Or - alternatively - Albo will appeal to precisely that, and use Trump's ill ease to get him to remove the naval and surveillance bases from Australian soil, distancing ourselves from the American relationship and we can finally manage our own affairs.

We are so, so far away from China/India, America, Europe; we don't need to be a part of their wars or shenanigans. I'm not talking about full isolationism, but I am certainly talking about cutting off the cords that bind.

At no point has our destiny been fully our own. We were pulled into WW1 and 2 because we were still technically at the behest of Britain, and when they declared war we had no choice. We followed America into every conflict, to our own detriment worldwide. Now, we're getting bullied by China because we're being forced to prioritize our trading relationship over our military alliance, and **** that for a shit sandwich; bankruptcy or vulnerability.

Trump represents a real opportunity for the White House to be very, very stupid. Let's exploit it a bit.

I don't think Pine Gap is getting shut down anytime soon but I do think Joe Hockey and Bondi Partners will make millions.

Got no idea what you’re banging on about or what point you are trying to make to be honest. I posted a lot in a short timeframe because it was about a specific topic that I was interested in. And that was days before the result.

Well it depends on how far left you are. Ask a Green and everyone else is a Far Right Extremist for example. So in the same way for some people the Democrats are not left wing.

I mean, subjectivity is absolutely a thing. The problem I have is that depicting the Democrats as left wing would require them to do something or have a policy that is left wing.

How exactly is trump going to stop the war in Ukraine? If he cuts Ukraine’s aid which it’s using to defend itself wouldn’t Putin just take advantage of that, press on & take more land as Ukraine Collapses? What else can he actually do. Russia have already been smashed with sanctions & if Trump is anti-war as he’s claiming then he can’t go down that path. Is Putin just going to stop because trump told him he should? I really can’t see what leverage Trump would have.

Higher taxes for one. If you look at US, those States with Democrat government have the highest taxes.

Another is the burdens they force upon businesses.

Then there is the issue of law and order, softer on crime.

Not to mention quotas that are filled on the basis of ideology rather than the qualities of the applicants.

That should scream out the problem for the Democrats. Also almost guaranteed they won't learn from it at all.

Trump voters are all uneducated morons? Nope, he gained ground with those that were college educated.
Trump votes are all rural? Nope, he gained ground in cities and suburbs as well.
Trump voters are all white? Nope, he gained significant ground with latinos, native americans, and blacks.

Maybe, just maybe, the US electorate is absolutely fed up with identity politics (not to mention day to day concerns like the economy and immigration), and would prefer to be treated as individuals. Instead of being told who they MUST vote for just because of ethnicity or sex, they've decided to - wait for it - make up their own mind. Truly staggering stuff.
