I agree with Annable forcing his way into the top 5. Still won’t end up the top QLD product. Because Beau clears him and ZekeUwland is a Top 15 prospect, I think you will see that Dan Annable will force is way into Top 5 calculations next year and be the #1 qld prospect.
Question for draft watchers:
Was there a smaller representation of indigenous players picked this year?
If so does the AFL have cause for concern or do you think this is just a statistical outlier year?
Note: Generally Indigenous Players make up 9% of our AFL list
"The number of Indigenous AFL players has plunged from 87 to 71. It's going to get worse."The number of Indigenous AFL players has plunged from 87 to 71. It’s going to get worse
The AFL has long positioned itself at the forefront of social causes, with Indigenous players in particular being held up as pillars of the game. However, the number of Indigenous players is on the decline, and this trend threatens the very integrity of the game.www.swinburne.edu.au
Strange given the focus on NGA, Northern Academy, etc.Yes. I think Cody Anderson was the only Indigenous player taken in the main draft.
Strange given the focus on NGA, Northern Academy, etc.
That explains WA, SA, VIC, TAS but QLD, NSW and Darwin from the Northern Academies should be producing some and well as general underage pathways.Clubs had no reason to put much into their NGA for a few years with no ability to match any good players.
AFL changed the rules, Freo who had a good program, were threatening to lower our spending on it. We picked up one first rounder, then they changed the rules to the picks after 40. Freo has two players taken and we couldn't match. It disincentivised the programs. Why put the money in if all you do is feed other clubs. Freo and WC pay for their programs, not the AFL. The northern clubs get money from the AFL.That explains WA, SA, VIC, TAS but QLD, NSW and Darwin from the Northern Academies should be producing some and well as general underage pathways.
Certainly not quite wht I expected. But the focus was on winning a premiership, so high ceiling weighted.Great night for the tigers!
Couple of certain midfielders a riskier high reward pick and a ton of KPP options!
Hate to say it, well done tigers.
Saints must be happy as well with those two.
GWS must know something I don't.
I do think they need to tighten Academy eligibility, the Northern academies are getting too many kids of ex-players through their system.
Jeff White's kid next yearApart from the Lizard, what other Father/son players have been gazumped by academy eligibility.
Based on those two 2025 rankings, WA could be finishing flat last in the national championships. Two articles covering the draft.

25 in 2025: A look ahead to next year’s top prospects
With the 2024 AFL Draft in the books, it is time to look forward to next year's crop. We highlight 25 prospects to watch in 2025.central.rookieme.com
I think that’s true once the player achieves something at afl level. In the end, 1, 2 5, or 50, I don't think it really matters. Its just a number that quickly gets forgotten once you enter the AFL system.
2025 Draft is actually very good if people look to different areas/states for talent. But will they?Is the 2025 draft just worse in comparison to 2024, or is it just a shit draft like 2020?
