Hello everyone. I know I'm not one of the usual suspects who would start this, and I admittedly won't have much time this year to watch prospective draftees due to being in Year 12, but I thought I would kickstart things this year since no one seems to be caring due to our Mount Vesuvius form and us wearing off our biggest threat last season (besides the Cats and Port) in the Giants.
For those not aware, we should actually be paying even more attention than we did last year, as we have Carlton's first-round pick this year, something that is looking very good right now as their annual implosion has come at the start of the season and Sam Walsh looks like a 60-year-old man.
But I would like to highlight that as the first Sunday of the Coates Talent League season begins today, Kobe Williams, son of Mark Williams and potential father-son, will be turning out for the Western Jets vs Sandringham Dragons at RSEA Park from 11:30am. According to an article from Rookie Me Central a few days ago, Kobe has been a standout across the preseason for the Jets, highlighted by being best on ground in their intraclub game. He has also apparently improved his athletic base a lot and has impressed with his leadership. They will be looking at giving him more midfield time, as well as potentially across halfback, before he returns to Scotch College for APS duties.
Thomas McGuane, son of Collingwood premiership player Mick (already being hyped up by Pies fans as another Daicos), will be featuring alongside Kobe for the Jets and should excite. As for the Dragons, key forward Archie Ludowyke will be suiting up, who will be one to watch with our Carlton pick throughout the season as he appears to be the best key forward in the draft and one who could come into our considerations if Sam wants to start securing the key forward posts. You can, of course, watch all games via the Coates Talent League app.
