You need to get on the Coates Talent League app - it has all players stats from the games. You can also rewatch all the matches.

Kobe (jumper 21) stats for Round 1:
21 disposals
13 kicks
8 handballs
5 marks
3 tackles
5 Rebound 50s
4 Inside 50s

It doesn’t show clearances but I had a mate at the game and he said Kobe would have had about 5-6 for the game. Took a couple of good marks too. Apparently he hasn’t played midfield before so fair effort for a first crack. We will only see a couple more matches for Jets before he heads across to Scotch to play APS footy where the footage/stats are kept pretty quiet in the media.

Not bad at all for not having played midfield.

What’s his disposal like?

I can't see us using the Carlton pick in the draft. So much pre-agent activity this year, namely Harley, Butters, King, Jamara all potentially on the trade table and any play on these players will require that pick and likely a lot more to be involved.

He has his Dad’s kicking style. The game was fairly scrappy and most of his possessions were under pressure/contested so didn’t get a great chance to observe his natural style, however, I saw him train with the Hawks over Summer and he had excellent skills then.

Harley and JUH are not pre-agents this year

Leave it with me guys.

I identified Ward, Mackenzie and Watson as the players we needed through 21, 22 and 23, then last year before we traded our pick for Barrass, it was Murphy Reid I was all in on.

I'll do my usual thing. Wait until the season is over, read through the stats, watch 3 minute highlight videos and subsequently claim I'm an expert!!

I will legitimately claim Nuke though. Watched him play two VFL games and desperately wanted us to pick him up in the MSD before it even leaked as a rumour in the media. I can still remember thinking 'man, this guy looks great', and literally brace to jump out of my chair when the commentators said he was only 19. He looked 25.

Is he looking any good?
I see a bit of him. He doesn’t have the athletic profile of his brothers. He has slimmed down quite a bit this preseason so moving better than last year. I think he’s a fair way off the draft but I’ll update during the season. I’m sure he’ll develop a bit this season so haven’t ruled him out.

hopefully he gets a run with vic metro to get games against proper opposition as opposed to schoolboy footy

I had the pleasure of seeking some shade on a warm day under the same tree with Kobe’s old man at training over summer. We had a good chat for half an hour or so. All I can say is what a genuine ripping person. Will cherish it forever 😊. We spoke about the 08 granny a lot could write a couple of pages on it 😂. Dad no different to any of us with kids he was happy to have Kobe getting an opportunity to train with the Hawks, having exposure and experiencing a high performance environment to see the hard work involved/required to make it.

I got the impression that Kobe was also training at Doggies to give himself more of an opportunity but given the choice (if a spot was offered by Hawks as there were still no promises made by the club at that stage) he would choose us. As I said it is just a hunch and the impression I got as dad still loves the club.

Watching Kobe in the match sim over summer I think he only played a half. Just a kid playing against our seniors who were cracking in hard …… unfazed Kobe showed plenty of composure and was very clean with his disposal by hand and foot. He looked fantastic!

What's the go with Ky Burgoyne? I saw he was training with us over summer despite both Port and ourselves overlooking him in the draft. Do we still have father son rights?

We do but he really isn't up to the level. That's not to say he never will be but he's pretty far back in regard to his peers around the country.

His cousin appears to be a late developer.
Wouldn't call Jase a late developer when he was a best 22 player at 20 years old and did play a few games in his first couple seasons.
I love the sentimental side of things but I think we are at the point where we are pretty ruthless with list decisions. But hey if he has a ripping year this year, then I'm all for it.

So who are we getting this year?

happy gilmore well, we're waiting gif

My guess via Draft i

Olivia Greeves (elite mid we have shown interest in)
or Archie Ludowyke Highly rated key forward.

Or via trade

Harley Reid (generational mid) and Max Gruzewski (FWD) both players we have shown interest in previously.

* Kobe William and Goy Jaith both watches linked to our club.
