Probably the last time that they would reliably beat us was back in the 90’s.

I’d love the wheels to fall off for Carlton, but it feel like a small to zero chance. After the fixture I think we may be in that same group as them at the end of the year. Hence my dismay at them getting the boost and us getting the smack two years running.

North have some quality and I’d expect they get better, but not by enough to put the wind up the likes of us or Carlton. The Eagles will continue to be pure rubbish.

But Carlton are also only one season ending injury to Cripps or Curnow away from the bottom 4.

I realise everyone has a preference as far as days and time slots go. I work conventional hours, so I can attend all games in Melbourne if I choose to. That said, the fixture doesn’t suit me for the most part.
I’m glad we’ve avoided 3:20 games on Sunday, but there is a ridiculous number of night games.

I love the lack of Saturday afternoons, as I umpire footy the only one we play is before our season begins, perfect!

I thought I read recently they either want or will be getting everyone down there over a few years, so Essendon this year, Carlton next, Collingwood year after etc.

We'd want to be on the ball right from the word go - that's a tough first 6 weeks.

Just like last season. Aren't we supposed to get an easier draw if we miss finals?

We used to play there in the 90s.
One year, they locked the gates because the ground was full.
Only problem was that the last train from Melbourne had not arrived.
When it did, hundreds of Pies fans streamed down from South Geelong station and broke the gates down.

This is a standard Collingwood draw. Lots of blockbusters in prime time.

The alternative is to follow North.

It is certainly an interesting draw and the Blues supporters will no doubt be a happy group.

We should start setting expectations for them...

It has to be a top 4 result or it is a bust... yet again.... Lets start playing with their minds...;-)

Exactly right, can't even use the draw card factor as Carlton also have a huge supporter base.

AFL just wants everyone to win a flag, and uses everything it can to manufacture a product to profit from.
