I'm on a monthly payment plan - you may need to contact the club to be put on it
Are you an international member?

It does say specifically on the website that monthly payments are available for the in-person memberships, but the option ain't there for the digital ones.

sigh I do miss being able to attend more games.

H&A membership - a few years ago they took me off the monthly payment option, so I contacted and asked if it was still available

Just thinking it couldn't hurt to ask

The monthly options are publicly quoted on the site for all memberships bar those involving the TV subscription :)
That's the case for every club, for what I can see - so I suspect that the lack of monthly payments for memberships involving Fox/KAYO are not a mistake.

As a member that prefers to stand at GMHBA, it is a matter of 'Another Season, Another Shafting'.

Got the GFC email and tried to sort out GA tickets - the links only led to Ticketmaster/Ticketek upselling reserved seats for extra $$$.

Contacted the club - they told me that I could download through the Geelong Cats app. Went to the app; the app (which is super slow and buggy) would not let me log in through Ticketmaster, so I couldn't get the GA tickets I have paid for through my membership. Sent the club an email (and have sent many) explaining that preferring to stand makes you a Second Class member that the club treats as an afterthought.

Still waiting for a reply and a fix a few days later - no reply from the club.

I got through the queue and when I looked to upgrade my GA seat for Easter Monday to a reserved seat, it was going to start at $30 and not $15 as per the email, plus $3.80 fee

Bugger all that - sticking with GA
Might have been the price for junior / concessions? We paid the $30 each and upgraded to a reserved seat on the wing, level one. Came to $63.80 (service and handling fee).

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't General Admission not available for pre-purchase unless the game is fully ticketed, because there is no need? I.E you just rock up with your membership (on your phone) and Robert's your mother's brother, no pre-booking required.

FWIW - and I know this isn't Geelong's fault because unfortunately Away clubs get what they are given - as an interstate member, we get a free ticket to a Cats game in our state.

So, I went to book a ticket for me (a member) and the wife (not a member) at the Gabba on the day that tickets opened up... and for me, it was free, great. For the wife, we could not get a ticket next to me any cheaper than, I kid you not, $100.

Ergo, I get that I'm probably in a decent seat for gratis, but the lack of flexibility is cripplingly expensive if you want to bring someone.

Yeah it's one of the misleading things that I really do not like about the advertising of prices for memberships/seats - they always say "starting from (concession price)".

Probably was, but because I was trying the upgrade option it wasn't even showing me what started at $15

I did note that as it allowed additional prices that some of those started at $100 which was ridiculous

As for the service & handling fee, I went to a couple of days of the recent womens test match at the MCG - GA tickets were $20, with a service & handling fee of $8.70 per transaction. Think that's the highest fee I've seen in a long long time

Are you a general admission member or reserved seat member?

If a GA member, I thought that the standing room at KP was treated as a GA area, which would mean on the week of the match that the relevant match ticket/s are added to your app and available for download if you wish to add it to the digital wallet on your phone

Reading through the GA member information, it says there's the opportunity to upgrade to a reserved seat at member prices, and

"* Subject to availability and events beyond our control. Entry is subject to capacity and may not be guaranteed. Where ticket demand for a home match is expected to exceed stadium capacity, the game may be declared a ‘Reserved Seat Event’ and require members with General Admission access to upgrade their entry to a reserved seat. Tickets will be subject to availability, and additional fees and charges will apply."

If you're a GA member and happy with that then it's unlikely you need to actually do anything at this stage

As for what the staff member from the club told you in terms of accessing your ticket, they're correct in that our membership tickets are added to the app:
  • After opening the app click on the 'Mobile Membership' tab
  • It will show a list of events which your membership has provided you a ticket
  • Click on the individual event and it will show when tickets for that event will be released as they only become available the week of the event/match (that's nothing new and not specific to the AFL)

As an example, my reserved seat ticket for our Round 1 clash against Freo currently looks

Do we have info on which games will likely be fully ticketed/sold out? I'm looking at the Geelong v Melbourne one and considering whether I need to upgrade to a reserved seat or if GA will be ok.

Generally clubs do this a fortnight or so ahead of time, as a fair bit of it depends on ladder position. You'll have more than enough notice to upgrade.

I am well aware of the process of sorting out GA tickets as a member, having done it countless times before. But I don't see why my choice to stand should preclude me from pre-booking for standing room (my preferred location) at the same time as the rest of the members. I don't want a reserved seat, I don't want a GA seat - I want to stand with my family and friends as I have since I was first a member (1979)

I am a member and have paid for the right to be so for many years, so why can't my entry be guaranteed in advance? Why can't I nominate the standing room in the Joel Selwood Stand as my 'reserved seat'? Why do I have to go through a laborious process just to download my tickets (which I can't do regardless at the moment, as the Geelong Cats app is stuffed and won't let me log in)?

You’re still getting into the game, no worries. You can’t pre-book standing room (or any GA ticket) because, simply put, there isn’t a need to do so.

You can still stand with your family & friends and no one is stopping you from doing that - it's simply a case that the standing room at KP is part of the general admission allocation, which is why you can't reserve a spot within that area

Just as you can't reserve a seat in the GA seating area, you can't reserve a spot in the GA standing area - that would make it a reserved ticketing location

If they were to change a section of standing room to a reserved allocation, you'd then be paying closer to the reserved seating membership prices - I highly doubt that is part of their plans
