Don't forget that technically Marvel is Essendon's home ground, hence why these two teams simply don't have each other at the MCG too often


Talking about the fixture, it's like this tidbit from Swampy last week and while it's a little nuanced for a round 1 post, it makes a lot of sense when you think about it for a moment

I think one of the biggest reasons for Crows improvement this year is they finally have a decent midfield mix..

Last year it was mainly Laird, Dawson and Crouch as the main 3 which is a bad combo

Yeah this is pretty bleak

Bombers have a few young lads with a lot of talent, but the side plays soft, bruise-free footy. Defence looks one of the weakest in the AFL.

Conversely, the Crows look very impressive. Very dangerous and dynamic forward line and the most complete looking midfield in years.

Still not sure about Caddy. He's definitely going to be a player but I think we made the right choice selecting O'Sullivan in the same draft year.
More upside in his game as a long-term defender/utility.

Only watched early part of the game, but Essendon seem to be playing "hot potato" ball. Soon as they get the ball they want to handball. Strange game plan.

These scorelines are crazy similar and both feel like they are from a completely different era. At least we had the excuse of it being played in putrid hot and humid conditions and being the away team, whilst todays match was played in perfect conditions, and Adelaide hadn't won at the MCG in 8 years.
