Memberships 2025 Club Membership discussion

The club has emailed Social Club and 1859 members letting them know of an approximate $200 increase in price to membership for 2025.

The reasons for the increase as per the mail are increased costs associated with hosting events at K Park for an additional game in 2025.

Given its well known the club makes significantly more money hosting games at K Park compared to the MCG than this price increase seems ridiculous.

Yes, the costs associated with hosting particular events may have increased but the overall profit the club makes will increase.

Can someone make this make sense?

Despite the warm fuzzy feelings they try to encourage among the membership, the club seems to maximise takings in whatever way it can.

And in regards to the price increase, from the looks of it all variations of club membership with a Geelong home game (KP element) have increased

Similar to social club but located on level 2 of Hickey stand in the old Alex Popescu rooms. Smaller numbers than social club. The seating on level 2 of Hickey stand is probably the best view in the ground.

Received my renewal email last week and my total has actually gone down despite the extra game in Geelong. Obviously, the extra GMHBA game has resulted in a slight price rise for my reserved seat package (I sit in the Selwood Stand) but looks like they are no longer having the Melbourne reserved seat package for the MCG home game and my membership is around $20 less than it was this season so I can't really complain

Email also says they will communicate seating options with members for the MCG home games before tickets go on sale in 2025

I just called the club to adjust my membership. All done within a couple of minutes. No problems, no issues. The person on the phone was very polite and helpful .

Yes …weird. I like my MCG seat even better that the KP one… L2 is really good.

They figure if a member is willing to pay 1200 for a membership then they'll also pay 1400...

My family’s renewal is a mess. A few years ago they changed the invoicing system and it no longer breaks down the cost of the membership and reserved seat components. I find it confusing. We have a combination of family, adult and youth (high school aged) members. The family membership (2A 1C) with reserved seats seems to be being charged as 1A 1C but a seat is still allocated to the uncharged adult. The second adult has been charged in previous years but has a $0 invoice this year. I’ll be interested to see what hits the credit card on Friday. It looks like it’ll be about $500 less than last year which makes no sense. Also, the Youth pricing of reserved seats is incorrect. I bought to the clubs attention last year that they were overcharging for Youth member reserved seats by $10 – and it had been happening for a couple of years. After a lengthy email exchange they agreed with my assessment and refunded the money. I wasn’t bothered about the money, I was more concerned that this might be a system wide issue affecting many members. They suggested at the time that it only affected our memberships, I’m sceptical… This year it appears the discrepancy is $30 – youth members are being charged $30 more than an adult for the same reserved seat – ground level Hickey Stand. I’ve compared the cost of our Adult and Youth memberships including a reserved seat to the cost of a membership only package as listed on the club website. The reserved seat cost for our seats is $305 for an adult and $335 for a Youth. I’d need to confirm it with the club but given I bought it to their attention last year I’m not sure I can bothered going through it again. I’ll let them charge my card on Friday and see what comes. Love the team, not too impressed with the membership renewal system…

I plucked up the courage to call the club. It was all fixed fairly quickly by a very helpful team member. I don't understand what happened but somehow our family membership had been broken into individual memberships and only 2 of the 3 were charged. Perhaps it has something to do with the new categories of family membership for 2025? Our Youth memberships had been incorrectly categorised and were being overcharged by the $30 I mentioned in my previous post. I encourage everyone to compare the details on your invoice to what's listed on the website. I'd be surprised if mine was the only one that had mistakes. Bring on 2025!
