Assuming we get drawn with 2-2-2 from the 6-6-6. I'd like to play Port, Lions, Pies, Bombers, Crows, Tigers twice if I could pick. Bombers at gather round in Adelaide. No game in Geelong, and different teams in Ballarat for once. Make Eagles, Swans, Freo etc, play there as well. Would like more than two games at the G as well, esp later in the season. Not to open the season vs the Demons again.

Hopefully club push for the Saints in Round 1 in Macrae's 250th.
Love him but do you really want to give the opposition inspiration?

Saints banner would be interesting at least….hasnt played a single game for them….but hey congrats on 250 Jack 😂

I want to double up against the Pies, Blues, Tigers and Dees if possible, maximise those MCG games. Doubt we'll play either WA team in Ballarat, they are usually locked in to playing in Tassie. Is it confirmed we will play games in Ballarat next season?

Ok just let this sink in for a minute, Geelong only played one game this year at Marvel Stadium, one game.
See that’s where the AFL should be making them play some of those MCG games they get there to free up space and commitments at the G for teams that don’t get the opportunity

Or, let them play all their home games at their actual home against Collingwood as well and the G gets freed up….but that doesn’t make economic sense for the AFL

The fixture is compromised and always will be, it’s part of the reason the AFL is a Mickey Mouse comp.

Whenever you have your fixture done to maximise profits through marquee games you are jeopardising equity.

Looking at Soccer which is so much bigger than AFL forget about the fact every team plays each other twice. But looking at the other competitions FA Cup, EFL Cup and Champions league. None of those draws are done to ensure the biggest attendance or profits. You’ll constantly see smaller clubs draw bigger clubs at the smaller clubs home venue which has limited capacity. You’ll also see bigger clubs end up on the same side of the draw and run in to the finals.

You can still have your queens birthday and Anzac Day etc without the need for a double up. You just know that those dates those teams play.

Realistically, the double ups should be done completely randomly, even do it as a televised draw to bring in some of the money they may miss out on. Then the fixture is determined after the double ups are completed.

The fact Collingwood etc never go to Geelong or Tassie vs north and hawks is pathetic. It also prevents smaller clubs growing as they are constantly forced to play bigger clubs either away or at limited capacity stadiums

And it seems the smaller clubs have to do a bargain with the devil just to stay in the comp. Don’t complain and we’ll keep subsidising you under the banner of so-called “equalisation”.

Did annyone catch Bevo’s “we won’t complain” about the fixture remark at the CSM?

No - what did Bevo say?

The NFL does fixturing the best. They weight the difficulty based on where
you finished the year before, ensure every team is guaranteed at least one prime time slot, rotate the matchups on a 4-5 year basis and flex out games later in the year which are dead rubbers.

Yeah and while some divisions have more challenging opponents than others, all teams within a division share a common list of opponents, so there's no argument of one team winning a division being the better team because it's a common set of opponents.

Since 2012, we've only played Collingwood, Carlton, Essendon, Richmond or Hawthorn an additional 11 times (counting the intended 2020 fixture), beyond the one-game-a-season fixture.

Essentially mathematically if by random chance and accounting for the fact that the interstate teams are guaranteed to play derbies against other team in their state every year, we "should have" played these five teams a collective 20 or 21 times more additionally, rather than 11.

This has flow-on effects as outlined in your post and clearly is a factor in certain situations such as playing against 60,000+ opposition fans in an MCG final, something that we have rarely been able to prepare for in a final, because we rarely play that equivalent fixture in the H&A.

Will Geelong get a round 24 home game at GMHBA Stadium as a nice cushy way to finish off the H&A season before finals? For some odd reason they've been handed one every single season since 2012. It's incredible.
Simultaneously demanding 10 home games at Kardinia, and to maintain their Easter Monday clash.

Wanting it both ways.

Either be willing to play all 11 games at Kardinia, but not willing to allow the AFL to give marquee public holiday fixtures to other teams.

You forgot to add in against an interstate team who is crap too.

Well the EFL Cup used to be an uncompromised draw but no longer. This year the big boys (those playing in Europe) got their way, the EFL allowed them to enter at Round 4 (was R3), guaranteed they wouldn't play against another Europe playing English club and also guaranteed them a home game.

I’ve been calling for years for a simple solution for all of those crying clubs, which is due to their own success.

Those teams playing in European comps simply aren’t part of the next season’s league cup. No Euro spot awarded for winning it, but it gives all the other teams in it a much more realistic chance of winning a comp and will engage the fans a lot more.

A later entry even increases those same clubs chances of winning it, rather than them just playing youth & reserve players which could see other pro teams knock them out.
