Give us the hardest possible draw. I want daddy to squirm.
The AFL likes Ken at Port. Good enough for the happy clappers to keep turning up, shit in finals, so no risk to the Vic sides they want to win. So on that proviso of we don't get nice things, I'm expecting an easy draw to paper over his poor coaching through the H&A. Limp towards finals, Koch says can't have distractions, Ken resigned, dance to the Pennsylvania Polka as it'll be another 2 years of winter.

So you would imagine Fox would be arguing for some big drawing SA, WA, NSW and QLD team games on Saturdays in the first 8 rounds, forcing supporters to sign up to them. But they'd be also pushing for big Vic matches on Saturdays for the first 15 rounds as well. Rounds 9 and beyond the interstate club matches would hold less value, so that's when they'll want plenty of Vic matches on Saturdays. Thing is, Channel 7 will want the exact opposite.
The AFL wouldn't give a shit what Channel 7 wants. They're just the bunch that the AFL is stuck with because of anti-siphoning laws. Fox is what pays the big money in the broadcast rules.

Tom Morris' full fixture is below. He wrote he didn't think the times were locked in ie order of games at AO.

Lazy programming to have Port the Hawthorn game Sunday twilight about 4pm. They know that will fill up.

There is going to be a an overlap on Saturday with the Barossa game and first AO game. Same on Sunday with Barossa game and first AO game but it might be only 30 to 45 minutes compared to probably 90 minutes plus on Saturday.

Freo get an early Sunday game and even though its a hike back to Adelaide, they should make it in time for the last Virgin flight to Perth on a Sunday. There are usually 2 Virgin flights 6.30pm and 9.45pm, but they could have a charter flight, or might be staying the week, like this year. Or could be West Coast's turn to stay the week.

The next weekend after Gather round is Easter so Hawks will play Easter Monday v Geelong and we might play on Easter Sunday,

The week after Easter is Friday 25th ANZAC day and either us or Freo with their Len Hall ANZAC round game, will get the Friday night and the other team the Saturday night home game.

If we get ANZAC Day evening then we will probably get back to back 6 day breaks and play the Saturday - probably night game away, and then the Friday night.

I guess with the new TV deal and "Super" Saturday on Fox Footy, if we don't get a Thursday night or Friday night game during Gather Round, we will get a Sunday game as no way will the AFL program the two SA teams to not be on 7 on the Saturday of Gather Round!

The teams that have had to play at Mt Barker so far;

2023
Bris v North 12.40pm Saturday

2024
WCE v Syd 12.30pm Saturday
GWS v GC 12.00pm Sunday

Norwood
2023
Freo v GC 4.40pm Friday night
GWS v Hawks 2.50pm Sunday

2024
Bris v North 4.10pm Friday night
Rich v StK 2.50pm Sunday

Looks like North and the GC get their 2nd trip to the country and Rich and Freo go to the Barossa after both playing 1 game at Norwood and 1 at AO.

StK and GWS get their 2nd game at Norwood.

2025 Gather Round potential fixture

Friday 11 April:
Collingwood vs Sydney (Adelaide Oval)

Saturday 12 April:
North Melbourne vs Gold Coast (Lyndoch Oval, Barossa Valley)

Carlton vs West Coast (Adelaide Oval)

Apparently the AFL want the theatre of the Port v Hawthorn grudge match to close out Gather Round.

Hinkley's histrionics are the gift that keep on giving

AFL fined Hinkley $20k for conduct unbecoming.

Next minute its a marketing opportunity. Is the AFL giving the club $20k back, given they paid it, or at least not apply the amount to the Footy department spend?

The time slot is for TV. Will be on Fox Footy nationwide and they would want a primetime game and it allows 7 Adelaide to reduce their Sunday news by only 15 minutes to cross to the game.

'bitter rivalry'. What hyped up garbage.

It's like when we were dominating the SANFL and the local media called us and Glenelg, 'bitter rivals' and us and Norwood 'bitter rivals' and us and Sturt 'bitter rivals'...... We were apparently bitter rivals with the rest of the SANFL - who would have thought?

Probably all of 3 people cared about Ken's post-match yapping. Ken because My Legacy, Sicily because he's one red light away from driving into a crowd of pedestrians and Mitchell because he's Ken from Barbie.
