Don't like Sunday twilight either, but for going as a supporter it shits on Thursday nights in my opinion

Have all day to go have lunch or whatever before hand and then cruise into the game. As opposed to madly rushing from work and fighting traffic
Both ain’t great to attend but at least one is better for tv coverage and players 100% like Thursday night better

Honestly, after thinking about playing GC first, I shouldn't have been surprised about it in the first place.

Mini's first true game as senior coach against the guy he replaced at Richmond.

I’m fine with WA Day being reserved for the WAFL - it’s a big day for them

What could be done though is use the Sunday night - play the Derby then as a regular fixture. Make it a twilight game starting at 4.40 and have it televised in prime time over east

Build it up as a regular standalone game in the fixture
100% this.

Sorry... but did I miss the memo that all Australia Cities have been officially renamed? This is just confusing now

agree.

Was trying to work out WTF a engine stadium wengal was

Seems like a good opportunity to learn. :)

Fixture looks good from a sequencing/logistics standpoint, not getting shafted by inexplicable calls. On the competitiveness/double-ups side of things it's hard to say, which speaks to the evenness of the comp. Bar Richmond (and probably us), not too many cakewalks going around.

thats pretty rough. 5 out of those 6 would be wanting to make finals next year.

To be fair, besides North, Richmond and us, the rest of the comp would be wanting/expecting to make finals and are all capable of doing so

Arguably Melbourne are the least likely of the other 15 to make finals, especially if they don’t get their shit together this offseason

Carlton's home game in Adelaide is a plus and 2 games against Richmond also a plus.

Saints home, Adelaide home, Roos in Bunganistan all pluses.

That in mind, this is how I read it.

I can see the pitchforks out by round 8.

We then hit a purple patch between rounds 9 and 11 and there's talk of a revival. Everyone on here starts talking up our prospects.

By the round 16 bye the pitchforks are back out and we end up following anyone who still needs to play the Hawks.

From the write up on the Eagles website

WA Day we play Geelong and we’re hoping to make that game around WA Day an annual marquee game for the club.

That’s good

And

Next up, the team will travel to take on Greater Western Sydney at ENGIE Stadium (round four, April 6) before continuing the road trip by flying direct to Adelaide to prepare for the Gather Round game against Carlton (April 12) six days later.

The club made this request through the AFL to minimise some of the travel challenges across the season.

“We asked to stay over after the game in Sydney on a Sunday, and then we will travel to Adelaide for some training ahead of the Gather Round game,” Pyke said.

Same as last season, we’ll stay away in the lead up to Gather Round, something that worked well for us

Lol and the narcissistic posters like yourself are one of the reasons I quit years ago.

Hahaha I may be many things but a narcissist ain’t one of them.

I’m simply far too important, I don’t have the time to be.

Can't really understand why we play the Giants or Blues twice, and not Norf.
Giants are grouped in the top 6, Blues middle 6.

If it’s 1 for the top 6, 2 from the middle and 3 from the bottom 6. I reckon our ideal double ups would’ve been.

Top 6- GWS - hard to pick but I would’ve picked them out of that group. Maybe the Hawks but still have nightmares of last year when our hopes were at their highest.

Middle 6- always getting Freo but Saints or Bombers would’ve been best case scenario. Docked and Blues worst case

Bottom 6- Best case Richmond/North/GC
Worst case- Crows/GC/Melb

Middle tier double ups hurt.

Against the Greater Western SYDNEY Giants, I would go out on a limb and say Sydney.

Or the 0.5sec on google:

You realise GWS also play in Canberra right?

And clubs play games in random places like Bunbury...

Obviously I figured it out pretty quickly - but last I heard the MCG was still in Melbourne, Adelaide Oval was in Adelaide, and Optus Stadium was in Perth - it's great to recogonise traditional names, but none of those places have changed names. If they want to put them on fixtures etc, put both names.

Both names are on the AFL website fixtures.

The WC social media team has decided to omit it.
