So games will start at 410

You'd think it's likely to be played earlier in the season due to the weather and timezones. Not to mention probably around long weekends.

Dons vs Blues already have one of the public holidays (Kings birthday) for their as they are saying in the media ‘traditional’ game that’s been going for a couple of years.

Best we might get is WA day weekend.

In 2024 we had zero Thursday night games and 1 Friday night game (vs Gold Coast in R22 which wasn’t a standalone match). All other matches were Saturday or Sunday

So it’s hardly a surprise that 2025 might be the same

Two reasons I can think of

1) We’re trash and don’t deserve marquee spots at the moment
2) Playing exclusively on Saturday/Sunday ensures we have no 5 day breaks which I suspect would be one of our requests
Richmond have 3, Roos two by the sounds of it so not sure that stands up.

Like I said will be interesting to hear from Pyke what our request were. Hard to see why we would be the only team not asking for a spot in that time slot.

Personally, I have no real issue not being involved in marquee Thus/ Friday games as we certainly don't deserve it. When we were a marquee team we played plenty of prime time games over the years...
Hawks hardly had a Friday night game in 4 years till next year when they're back to prime time.
It's basic broadcasting/ marketing dollars, not conspiracy theory in this case.

At least 2 games and further training allowances at MCG for all non Vic clubs at a minimum w GF contract.
And a fixture with a few less flights for WA teams, including back to back interstate games- either QLD, NSW or Vic once or twice a season is a massive win.

Yep G games and access should be a thing.

The bottom point is where I think we should be heading and the other pay off is then back to back home games more often.

Haha, please.

So the new Sunday twilight is better? No one wants to go to footy in that timeslot and for the players no one wants to wait around all weekend to play

Don't like Sunday twilight either, but for going as a supporter it shits on Thursday nights in my opinion

Have all day to go have lunch or whatever before hand and then cruise into the game. As opposed to madly rushing from work and fighting traffic

We'll never get a WA Day game - as far as I know it's reserved for WAFL games.

Can someone help me out...It helps North make money but they are only doing once next year and then halving it for another 2 years after that all while offiically pulling out of Tasmania at the end of next year?
Wouldnt it make sense to ramp it up after the Tasmania exit?
Or they just doing a cash grab of 2 mil and hoping that will cure them long term?
They will be the 3rd WA team , North Perth Kangaroo.

Random thoughts - Best WC Friday night game.

For mine, vs Richmond at the G, round 12 2015. Was the game where I started to believe the lads had something special going.

A Dusty masterclass with 3 goals wasn't enough with Gaffy BOG, Yeo brilliant and JK with 3 of his own.

Was close all night, but we always looked in control and ran away with a 20pt win

the full fixture should be release some time this week
The AFL see how much we like opening round, the sub rule and Sunday night games so they have decided to drip feed the ENTIRE fixture

I’m fine with WA Day being reserved for the WAFL - it’s a big day for them

What could be done though is use the Sunday night - play the Derby then as a regular fixture. Make it a twilight game starting at 4.40 and have it televised in prime time over east

Build it up as a regular standalone game in the fixture

If thats the plan, as I say would it make more sense to ramp it up after they pull out of Tassie?
They move out of WA 1 year after moving out of Tassie.
So they think they can survive as a Melbourne based club after that? Or are they planning a longer term deal somewhere else?

I went to that game on a footy trip and was absolutely buzzing after. High fiving randoms, asking everyone "How about them Eagles?". Felt like we had the flag until we bizarrely forgot how to play football in the first half of the prelim against North. Got over the line but Hawthorn made us pay the next week.
