Hawks remind me of the Lions circa 09/10. A false dawn.
Yeah they don't have enough talent - too many average players who played above themselves in 2024

Which players in particular?

Not sure you can play above yourself

I don't think they realise what's coming
Possibly. I am not discounting a dip next year.

I just don't get the whole players played above themselves thing. Players can drop back next year but that doesn't mean they played above themselves this year

They have talent - it’s just not pooled in a couple of players. Their talent is spread fairly evenly across the ground. Also, Sam Mitchell has them playing a great gamestyle that is hard to coach against.

The one thing that stands out about Hawthorn is that they have many avenues to goal. Just look at what their spread of goalkickers looks like in some games. Not a single one of their players kicked above 5 goals in a match last year. Yet, they still ranked 6th in points for at the end of the H&A rounds.

Instead of having 2 people kick 10 goals between them and a bunch of single goals and 0 goals after that, they have 5+ multiple goalkickers. When they scored 170 points against North Melbourne for example, the highest any individual scored was 4 goals (Moore). They got to that score because they had 9 players score 2 or more goals. Overall, they had 12 goalkickers that match.
Against Adelaide, they had 8 players kick 2 goals to get to a score of 124. All up, they had 11 goalkickers.

I anticipate that their style of play (courtesy of Sam Mitchell) and their list demographic will still stand up next year
