Collingwood seems to be the favor of the month around here with Sydney .

With many believing the Lions will struggle
While St Kilda have gone from a team that won 5 of their last 6, and 8 of their last 12 (after a nightmare mix of a brutal draw and loads of injuries in the first 10 rounds)- after finishing 6th last year- to a bottom 2 or 4 team next year!

Despite another preseason into the young crew of Phillipou, Wanganeen-Milera, Owens, Wilson, Windhager, Caminiti, Henry and co, and getting King back.

Some of these predictions are more hopeful than anything and some disingenuous. If I were a swans fan I too wouldn't want the lions in the top 4. Joe is a big out but Levi is a big in. Sam Day will help too.

As a Sydney fan I have immense respect for Brisbane, particularly after Grand final day.

I have tipped them bottom half of the top 8, only because generally it is extremely hard to go back to back and a fair amount of sides that win a granny don’t have the same hunger the year after. That being said the Lions are stacked with talent and it wouldn’t surprise me if they take it out again in 2025, but I just think a few other sides may have more motivation to go all the way next year.

Do not give us hope like that!

Horse leaving makes it a complete guess, in my opinion, to know which way Sydney will go. They could finish anywhere from 1st to 13th and the knock on effect for other teams that play them twice are huge - are they getting double ups against a top 2 contender hungry and now ready to go one step further with a freshen up, or a team about to implode?

We're one of those teams so I will watch with interest and hope what looked like a hard double-up last week now gets easier.

My best guess is we will be calling them the Sydney Scars in 2025. Will be interesting to see if they can bounce back quickly.
