That's probably part of it. But I think at times, our players get underestimated because the old narrative that we top tier talent and exciting players.

We have been mediocre for so long that no-one has looked at us properly for ages. We are expected to stay still for ever. It happened to Richmond before they came good and Brisbane too. Even Carlton had the same treatment until a few years back.

Are we any closer to getting Nas locked away?

Is he still living with Woody? Might be time to give him a part time list management role this year as we enter Nas negotiations 🤣

I’m hoping this is more of a byproduct of a concentration of our talent 21 and under. And that other clubs has stronger 22 and 23 year olds with more time in the system and exposed form.
It's just a matter of our continued irrelevancy to the media. Similar threads on the main board have us top 3-5 from all but the Carlton scum.

We'll find out soon enough if LDU is a likely target

If he hasn't signed this before the start of the season, it might very well be on

It’s looking quite likely North would match, forcing a trade, and can’t see us throwing away at least two first rounders.

If he wants to come to us, it's because we look close and they are still struggling. If they are bottom 4 they won't go for a pick outside 15 even if there is 2 of them. They'd take FA compo.

This is going to be #1 discussion point all year.

Just throw the chequebook at him now Saints, to prevent all our angst this season! We know what we’ve got.

Yeah we’re probably dying to not take mids with those two picks. :p

Would Rowell if available be a better pick up than LDU?

It really depends on how guys like Windy, Phillipou and Garcia develop. With Macrae in next to them, these kids can play a much loser role and gain confidence and freedom. If they can step up it might not be as urgent to spend huge money on one mid. You could probably get more speculative at that point or go for a gun FB, small forward or intercept defender.

I think Callaghan is probably the most ideal player for us but he's not a FA from memory. He plays a bit more of an adaptable inside/outside game. It's a shame Sam Flanders didn't get done. He would have been ideal. Plays forward as well as true mid and can play as a utility when needed even.

If we can develop a couple of our own we can concentrate on a few different types and could even speculate on guys like Hobbs and Ward who are not getting much of a go at their clubs due to depth.

With Howard going down, do we put he or The Pou on the long-term injury list?
And Tomlinson is playing with Norf Melb. Vfl, do we re-aquaint our interest?
We actually ceased our pursuit of him, because Howard re-signed.

I agree 100% with you St Ciatriz. This is why we should try and cash in Sincs for a top 20 pick if anyone is prepared to pay up. If no takers then we obviously keep him. We have 3 champion oldies that we should seriously consider trading for more top 20 picks. Especially if we don’t play finals in 2025. Now I know a lot of people will call me a troll but the truth is with Tassie on the horizon we need as much gun youth as possible. ListManager over and out…

We ain't winning a flag with the tried methods of trade draft and free agency.

The games moved well past that.

We can't compete with the money clubs or those backed by the AFL.

I think we need to think outside the box.

You need a mixture of youth and experience. Sully over and out...

By the time we are ready to challenge, the guys below will be retired. We should seriously consider offers that nett us a top 20 pick. Especially if we don't play finals this year. The definition of madness is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result....

31/32 this year - Webster, Hill, Wood
30/31 this year - Jones, Sinclair, Macrae, Marshall, Steele
29/30 this year - Howard, Wilkie
