Clearly photo shopped, but yes a strong contender for a mid spot. Great SC track record, but massive injury last year. Hopefully he's fully over it.
And you'd expect at least 10 points of upside

Easily, if there's no recurrence of the lung issue or infection hangovers from the spleen, he's a guaranteed top 10 mid.
MELB have what I would consider a good early 6-7 games too ....I'm placing a lot of emphasis this year on favourable fixture runs by position

You’d expect a 40+ point increase from him and Oliver I reckon. Tons of value in the midfield this year.

I reckon you could make a case to start one fully priced premo like Bont or Serong for the captaincy option, then load up on underpriced mids. I currently have Walsh, Petracca and Oliver but also keen on Green.

I'm really struggling to choose between Butters & Serong ......Port have a fantastic early Fixture, however FREO also have a favourable early run at home ....just not as good as PORT

Great if they all work out, but death by a thousand cuts if they all don't quite work out. Too much risk taking too many fallen premos

I have seen Walsh in a few teams now but Not Cripps. Not sure why but I will be happy to have him as a POD over Walsh.

I have also gone Cripps over Walsh,

More worried now about Walsh's body holding up then Crippa and think he will be desperate to get back to finals and lead from the front

Brownlow curse. RIP Crippa SZN

Is Walsh underpriced? Or is he just a 105-110 guy?

A 117 average in his 3rd season would suggest that he was capable.

Can he replicate it though? That’s the question.

Tbh I could make the case for most premiums in the midfield this year. Seems like the last few years there’s very few players you can say will 100% back up a 110 season.

Even someone as reliable as Laird had a shocker last year.

Just having a look at midfielders who went 110+ last year and what their previous averages are.

Bont
2024 - 126
2023 - 129
2022 - 116

Butters
2024 - 120
2023 - 113
2022 - 96

Neale
2024 - 119
2023 - 110
2022 - 122

Daicos
2024 - 117
2023 - 116
2022 - 91

Heeney
2024 - 116
2023 - 86
2022 - 101

Treloar
2024 - 116
2023 - 107
2022 - 96

Serong
2024 - 115
2023 - 111
2022 - 90

Merrett
2024 - 115
2023 - 116
2022 - 112

Dunkley
2024 - 111
2023 - 115
2022 - 108

Cripps
2024 - 110
2023 - 97
2022 - 111

So Bont, Neale and Merrett are the only three who have put together three 110+ season in a row coming into 2025. Obviously there’s reasons for some not doing it, with Daicos and Serong being not in their prime. But when you consider what Petracca, Oliver and Walsh have done before, are they any less chance of going 110+ than any I listed?

It would be a shock Bont doesn't average more than those three.

Very likely to go 110+ I'd have Bont, Butters, Merrett, Serong and Daicos. Probably Neale too, although he's due to drop off.

Bound to be a few others, picking them is the trick isn't it

I’d be extremely confident in Bont, Daicos, Serong, Merrett and Butters. Don’t think Neale with that injury in the GF. Just a shame that those Daicos and Merrett (along with Dunkley) had that ridiculous bye.

People underestimate how hard it is to go back to back 110+. Getting back to 110+ after dropping sub 110 is even more rare.
15 went 110+ in 2023. Only 7 backed it up.

I think that falls into the point I was trying to make. Really, outside of Bont, Serong and Butters no mids have without the early bye you’d be more confident in doing more than Petracca, Oliver or Walsh.

I’m spewing Merrett has that bye. He’s been in my team every year for the best part of a decade.
