I went down to Bat and Ball on Wednesday morning to have a look. It seemed to be a long session. It started at 9.30 and they were still going after 12.

They started with a warmup, then had kicks at goal. Then rotated through 3 skill stations (handpass, marking, kicking) whilst the 3 rucks worked together on ruck stuff.

They seemed to be moving more towards match sim type of drill. Three times during the session they were doing 15 vs 15 on the full oval with some variations in the drill. Not full contact but each side trying to move the ball upfield.

Apart from that, they did a ball movement drill, a handpass drill involving a bigger group on each side and also split up into positional groups for a drill. Interspersed throughout the session they were doing running sessions.

Also at this stage, players had different training loads. A few of them were doing boundary running and not really taking part in the main session. Some players did most of the drills but did not do the running etc.

(With the disclaimer that I have only seen 1 proper session.)

Positionally Wicks does seem to be with the defenders. Roberts still seems to be with the defenders.

Cleary and Corey Warner still with the forwards and during the running both were often ahead of everyone else and really pushing themselves. If Dattoli is injured I can imagine us using a Cleary/CoreyWarner/Adams/Fox type of player in our forward line.

A lot of our senior forwards were not in full training. So it is hard to judge. Eg during the 15 vs 15 drills Chad Warner was sometimes starting at half forward but also in midfield. Adams was training with the forwards but also coming into the midfield at times etc.

Recognised 5 of the new draftees. (I did not see the news about Dattoli till afterwards.) Andrew looked to be playing fullback, looks a good height but obviously a long term defensive prospect. Bice was at half back and trying to get involved in moving the ball out of defence with longer kicks which was difficult due to windy conditions. Paton was in defence and appeared to be training fully. Liedler was involved in some of the drills but maybe not the match sim. I saw him doing laps of the boundary so possibly needs to build up his training load. Bowman seems to move and kick well. He was usually positioned at half forward.

Based on the photos above and SeanM's comment, I think Andrew is taller than the 193 cm's recorded on all of his draft profiles that I saw. Seems to have shot up a few cm's lately.

Snell has to play rd0, give him a go like we did with Melican when he first started out. Is the future, let's get on with it. Will be Barrass size in 3-4 years time
I am as bullish on Snell as anyone, but gifting him games on the basis of him being "the future" seems counter to the standards many Swans fans are hoping Dean Cox will bring as new coach.

The way I see it: McCartin may or may not be swung forward. Sir Dane is 34 and cannot play forever. If Snell is good enough at this stage, he'll get a spot.

Ill Allow It Spanish GIF

Show as many clips as there want

Has to show next season to be worth any credit

This group only can reactive the club and themselves by a flag or just at least showing up to the ground

Its 27 weeks just to get there again your going to have a horrible 2025 if your holding them that highly.

I think watching the last training session is a bit masochistic. Some of that footage reminded me more of what happens in a torture chamber than at a footy club. It looked horrible. I used to live pre-season training because I loved long runs. In those days we did a 10 k run as one of the first things we did. That was definitely torture as most of us did not maintain 10 k runs during the season or after it finished.

That last session reminded me of the torture of that first session. The pain in every part of the body for weeks after. If footballers are not masochists I don't know who is

5k run as a recreational runner is enough on its own cant imagine the motivation/desire needed to double that and maintain reasonable pace!

10k is just torture on the feet/shins
