I was coming here to say this. Theres been some poor taste comments on other social media platforms and that makes me feel we are turning into those nasty blews and tin rattling save our skins supporters from a decade plus ago.

It has been a tough few years, no doubt. But we shouldn’t be wishing ill upon our playing group, we are better than that.
Was going to post the same. Posts/social media celebrating a player's injury are in poor taste. When he puts on the royal blue and white jumper (with purple and green) we support them regardless. Yes, I've been critical of his performance and don't think he should have been in the best 22, but I'd rather he be dropped than injured.

well said - comtemptible

Freakish. Feel for the guy as never like to see someone injured. But not a huge loss for the team.

We improved once he left the field, Richo said it actually. Ford comes on a kicks 2 goals. Sometimes I think people involved are too close to the action and it's those with out any say in matters that see it for what it actually is.

In his 3 games and yes they weren't full games.

Averages 2 kicks , 2 marks, 3 hitouts, 0 goals.
WTF was he doing on the field in the first place. If that's your bar, FMD, I'll play.

I will finish only 2 kicks, 2 marks and 3 hitouts behind CCJ.

He's kicked 9 goals in his 22 games for us and has got progressively worse each season.

I wish him well in his recovery but I also look fwd to the day he's gone. No shame in not being good enough for AFL level footy, I wasn't and neither any of us nuts that keep posting in a sports forum and cheering on one of the worst sides in the history of the game.

Agree, he got 2 fair cracks at 2 clubs and it didn't work out, a bit sad it ended in a pretty debilitation injury for him but far better players who likely would have gone on to have steller careers have suffered similar fates, realistically he was likely given a bit more of a chance due to his height rather than any footballing acumen,

on a happier note he still has that bomb from the center to show his grandkids in years to come,

As someone who’s done a season ender recently, was gut wrenching to see the look on his face. He knew how bad it was.

Wish him a good recovery and hope he and coaching/medical staff uses the time to think about the type of footballer he returns as, it could a wake up call to realise he needs to use his physical size and impose himself if he wants to salvage his career. Wish him luck.

Interesting observation made by Riley Beveridge on TRSF. I didn't notice during the game, but only Fish and Larkey actually checked on CJ and everyone else just milled around. Could say that is just tokenistic, but I think it's pretty disappointing, and comes across as a bad look.
Not to mention either of Jy or Lmac should be checking on him.

Really poor if true. Not the look we want .

I noticed it at the time - there were more Carlton players give him a pat than our blokes

On the one end hand the fact he’s contracted for another year is a bad thing as he shouldn’t be and will never be good enough.

On the other hand it’s good for him that he is and hopefully helps with motivation for rehab and I would say gives him more time to consider his post AFL career.

Jy didn’t go to him at all.

Luke in fairness did attempt a half run towards the stretcher when it was speeding off the ground, but as it has become customary he completely missed the target, like a kid watching the ice cream van go by.
Or when you forget to take the bins out and the garbage truck takes off.

Let’s be honest, if Luke made it and then ruffled the poor blokes hair with his signature grin, then many in here would have been more offended.

Luke would've ended up poking the poor bastard in the eye.....

Na, the best thing would be for players perform and make the coaches pick them.
He was being picked purely because of his size, not on the back of actual performances.

Now that option is taken away from match committee we may see what players like Sellers and Maley can bring to the table.
