It was a strange pick up at the time and hindsight has, unfortunately, only proven myself and many others right about him.

strange to us, but consistent with the previous regime's strategy of rebuilding from the top down; Jared Polec, Aaron Hall, Dom Tyson - one out of three, which might be acceptable odds from the second round of the draft, but not when you're buying established players

Was a strange trade made stranger (as I said at the time) by us sweetening the deal by bundling a pick with Preuss. Every paper had already reported Melbourne were trying to push out Tyson. Clearly we must've thought that means you pay more..

2 years later Melbourne are on-selling Preuss for more than they paid for him while neither Dom nor us got anything tangible on-field out of the arrangement.

One of those unfortunate trades for trade's sake.

By all reports Dom is a good guy so hopefully he goes well with whatever is next for him.

Always feel for blokes who are smashed by injury and know the writing is on the wall, as I imagine Dom has for most of the year. Must feel pretty ordinary.

You always get advice not to burn bridges on your way out - it's great fun to watch when people don't take that advice at work.

I'll remember this because it is absolute class. You'd want him to stay in another capacity after words like that. What a pro.

the culture had definitely changed when delisted players last year basically said they could see it coming where this years had a pretty good idea what was required.

I said this a few months ago and got ripped apart.

this to me is the genius of Joyce in full effect.

at the time of the famous 4 getting delisted I was actually ok with it. I felt Firrito was getting exposed (although he good in that final in Adelaide), it made sense to move on from NDS , and if we were re building Drew and Boomer finish up probably opened the door for fresh blood so I saw the logic there (although) they certainly could have been players that could have brought along the kids.

but then to seemingly abandon that and bring in older players not even up to the same standard of the delisted 4 and trade a player like pruess who at the time had value was what really pissed me off and why I hold a grudge against CJ and BS,l.

the pruess trade for a player like Tyson who whilst drafted high was league average then paying extra to seal the deal was absolutely horrific. I’d sooner have taken a third rounder in the draft and draft someone who might have similar output but may have had a higher ceiling and cost a bucket load less.
