I said this a few months ago and got ripped apart.

this to me is the genius of Joyce in full effect.

at the time of the famous 4 getting delisted I was actually ok with it. I felt Firrito was getting exposed (although he good in that final in Adelaide), it made sense to move on from NDS , and if we were re building Drew and Boomer finish up probably opened the door for fresh blood so I saw the logic there (although) they certainly could have been players that could have brought along the kids.

but then to seemingly abandon that and bring in older players not even up to the same standard of the delisted 4 and trade a player like pruess who at the time had value was what really pissed me off and why I hold a grudge against CJ and BS,l.

the pruess trade for a player like Tyson who whilst drafted high was league average then paying extra to seal the deal was absolutely horrific. I’d sooner have taken a third rounder in the draft and draft someone who might have similar output but may have had a higher ceiling and cost a bucket load less.
Yes I must add this isn’t on Dom, he has worn the blue and white and I hope for the best for him

the cost is irrellevent because we havnt been close to our TPP for years but i definately agree the spot is worth a lot more to get a look as a prospective type.

Agreed we probably weren’t near the tpp but the accountant in me still wants value

Seems like a good bloke Dom. Its a shame it never really panned out for him, he looked like he was in for a real cracking season after such good pre-season games but his body just couldn’t really keep up.

Least he has himself set outside of footy, best of luck to him

The times I went to training - Dom looked a much loved part of the squad.
Just didn’t work out and as noted it was a weird trade as we had a few similar players

Former Roo to take up player-coach role with VFL team

Former North Melbourne, Melbourne and GWS midfielder Dom Tyson will continue his affiliation with the Kangaroos as he takes up a playing/assistant-coaching role with North Melbourne's VFL team.

Tyson managed 113 games across the three clubs, with his spell at Arden Street seeing him play just the six games over three years due to numerous injuries.

Speaking to Zero Hanger, Tyson says that the deal is all but signed, sealed and delivered.

"I'm 99% there at North VFL," Tyson said.

"I've accepted a playing/assistant role down there, I've just got to sign it (the contract)."

Tyson added that he would be in charge of the midfield in his new role, with his time to be split amongst playing and having the occasional gameday spent as just a coach.

"It'll be playing and midfield coach and it's a pure VFL commitment," Tyson said.

"Gameday I can just play and mid-week focus on the VFL midfield coaching role. The commitment could be that I end up playing three weeks and then coaching on the fourth.

"It's a flexible role."

Tyson was delisted by North Melbourne at the end of the 2021 season, joining Shaun Atley, Trent Dumont, Will Walker, Taylor Garner, Charlie Ham, Tom Campbell and Connor Menadue in not being offered a new deal for 2022.

Happy for Dom to stay on. We never got anywhere near his best through injury but I really wanted him to make it with us. In a way, he still might.

That's great re North VFL for Dom, he comes across as a good lad.

Would love a similar arrangement with Campbell if he doesn't get AFL listed.
Also With Polec ,Lynch and Campbell hopefully and a few others the VFL side of things hopefully a decent injury free run from the AFL side and a decent draw that doesn’t clash with AFL will help.
