Both he and higgo were lively didn’t take a backward step , Balta looks very close to senior footy , however cal Moore played equally as well and I expect he ll be pressing hard
Moore still has the same issue he’s always had. He’s wildly inaccurate in front of goal

Playing "equally as well" as a guy with 3 fewer years in the system isn't a good thing.

If 2 young guys are roughly equal, you tend to go with the guy who has more upside.

It's just one game though (not even), so way too early to tell anything real...Like what's Balta's tank like?

Aflx ain’t a good reference point , players were taking pot shots from outside 40 that they’d otherwise share around , I liked how he presented to the footy clunked some marks and moved really well, hope to see him in jlt

Btw did anyone see him point to his jumper at one point?

Already a tiger for life?
lot of clubs were turned off his attitude or what ever think he feels the love the club showed for him he knew he wasn't getting past our picks

The annoying moment when the video highlights on the website don’t show either of Balta’s goals because both happened when there was a split screen interview happening. Sigh.

I’m not so much into this must have talls scenario, but more interested in having blokes in the mid 180s who can jump as well as have some speed .
These two attributes allow you to get to contests on the ground as well as in the air either to harass or to create. Castagna Rioli and Butler proved this time and time again all year and they were assisted by the slower tough boys in Townsend and Caddy. Jack was our only serious tall , but he actually plays tall and small which makes him near impossible to keep down as he’s always involved in the game. We looked ridiculous in 2016 with TV, Hammer and Griffiths and we were similar last year when Soldo and Elton loped around.
Moore and Balta imo can play both ends of the ground and will be the perfect replacement if any “tall” gets injured. Bolton also fits into the three amigo role and has a massive leap and with another “preseason” under his belt he should have the strength and endurance to see out games. His leap is only second to Jack and his ground work plus speed is a class above. I can’t see the club going back to the KDH Galapagos Island turtle game plan that was backed up with the living remains of Jurassic Park dinosaurs.
The Caracalla game plan is based on breaking speed to create , closing speed to shut down contests and leading or jumping to either create or disrupt.
Earlier I stated this kid Balta in the long term will be a great pick up and possibly the best in the draft as he has some serious aerial skills and great ground tools.
This is no knock on Higgins as he is a different player and will be a beauty in the midfield.
I’m over categorising players as talls or this or that as the modern day footballer at 180 plus cm can gain height with their leap and more often than not leave their giraffe opponents behind once the ball is on the deck.
This is what happened on the 29/09/2017.
I will be interesting to see how far Chol has developed in the off season. Balta and Moore appear to be well ahead at this stage.
