Just pointing out that Laverde said about Duz that he's been a standout this offseason and has "transitioned to the midfield a lot more".

I don't expect him to play serious midfield minutes this year, but it seems that he's heading in that direction. I'm all about it.

His success as mid is pivotal to how we will go this year. If he thrives we have a really deep and well balanced midfield. If he fails we still have a huge need for raw hardness in the centre. So much so, I think it's a top 6 vs bottom 6 scenario.

I really don’t think duz is going to have a 6-7 game swing on how he performs as a mid. If we are relying on a guy who has never played as onball mid to the difference in our season we are already in a world of trouble.

More likely he has his turn through there, playing a bigger bodied supporting role for Setters and Stringer. Scott implied the need for versatility across multiple roles to allow the game plan to be more sustainable and avoid injury induced collapses in our season like last year. Martin's shift is another example.

There was a 7 game swing between top 4 and bottom 4. There was 3 games between 6th and 13th. We had 5 games last year that were decided by 3 goals or less. 3 by under a goal. Either you have a fundamental weakness that can be exposed consistently or we don't. No one else has the skillset and maniac attack on the ball to be that guy.

It's not like his output alone is the difference, it's his performance of a role that mitigates the weaknesses of our current mids and allows them to have a bigger positive impact on the games.

Say he can give us 3.5 extra clearances per game, 1.5 less against with his defensive pressure and 2 more for with his attack on the ball. We go from a clearance differential of 12th to 4th.

The guy has been our arguably the best performer over the preseason so it's not like it's a hail mary call. It's if he lives up to the potential he is currently showing, our midfield closes a fundamental weakness we've demonstrated for the better part of a decade.

Martin to half back is obviously going to massive as well, but I'm sure that's going to work. This is the move that will determine how much we can improve on last year.

The role includes allowing Parish more space to work in . Both Durham and Perkins have been good at blocking in match sim .
Yes 6 or 7 games would be a stretch but I would say 2 or 3 and not blown away would be achievable.

I’d say how will mckay and Reid go, with the flow on effect to ridley will have a much bigger say on how we perform this year.

But it’s not just durham, it’s setters durham and perkins. It’s all encompassing with those 3, it’s not just up to durham. I still think durham will only roll through the midfield at stages and still play a large % of game time on a wing.
