have we offered him 1 year? if so at least we could get some form of compo even if its a 4th

We wouldn't get any compensation from losing Goldstein

We still aren't breaking the bank with any FAs. Give him a juicy one year deal with the view to coaching if he's keen.

Having both Ben AND Goldy gone with Logue a long way off, won't be good for development next year.

When Goldy had to say a few words about Jacks retirement one of his final sentences was " l am going to miss playing with you next season" he never added the words "at the club"...🤔

l asked him about going to another club and he said he only got back from holidays the morning of the B&F and hasn't spoken to his manager yet..

So it seems its still just a rumour "although a strong one" of 2 years until it happens...

l spoke to Kayne Turner about exits meetings and he said that some had been done but the rest will be early in the week coming. It seems that his meeting wasn't one of those that had been done...

Can anyone recall the last time a 35+ year old AFL player was offered a two year deal? Who was it?
l think if ongoing 1 year deals are good enough for Boomer and others at the club then it should be good enough for Goldy...

Would you really want Goldy as a ruck coach? Have any of his understudies at North gone on to great things? Namely Pruess & X?

Nothing wrong with a few fresh voices around the joint and it feels like we need it.
Think as much as I love him, a change of scenery somewhere else as a coach would do him wonders, love him back after a couple of years though

I could be wrong but I don’t think Goldy has ever been in the leadership group either. Very happy for him to have another year with us though.

How dare he try and extend the number of years he makes decent coin
hell yeah, he needs it for child support:cool:
I dont have a problem with him going. Its his life

sometimes taking away the safety blanket is a good thing for the players left. Tell Xerri he's no 1 ruck , now go out and prove yourself.

As much as I'd prefer not to see Goldy running around in an * jumper, if we're only offering 1 year (which is a fair offer) and he can get a 2 year contract from them I don't see how anyone can begrudge him for that. I think next year will be tough for him the game's getting quicker every year and he was pushed around a bit this year. He'll always be a 300 game legend at North and a few games for * won't tarnish his reputation.

l think its his wording of "wanting to remain a 1 club player" that hurts the most...He could be offered consecutive 1 season contracts like some of our other great past players and takes it which l still hope he does, instead of 2 years at the Bummers..

I suspect he used the 'one club player' card last season to put some emotional weight to his contract extension so he could get to 300 games at North, which is fair enough. I could be wrong but I haven't heard it referenced this year.

I love Goldy, has been a great player, but we need to resolve our ruck crisis, I am not sold on Xerri, he is injury prone. 4 games in 2020, 8 in 2021, 12 in 2022, 9 in 2023... Shirley we can't be pinning our hops that he is going to be consistently playing all season.

There’s his availability issues and then also the fact he simply isn’t very good.

I generally agree.

Wayne Carey is never remembered as a Crow. Petrie isn't remembered as an Eagle etc
