Really sucks to see him go, and the fact that he won't be a one club player.
Understandable from the clubs perspective, we really need to find SOMETHING in potential replacements for the main ruck spot, because at the moment we're pretty light on and noones banging down the door.

Has been an absolute pleasure to watch, and I really hope he ends up somewhere other than * or Porta so I can at least see a few more games of his without throwing up into my mouth a little.

I wonder if that means multiple clubs have 2 year offers for him. Either way, and regardless of the reasons, best of luck to him.

Thanks Goldy, no sentimentality here, if more than 1 club interested what’s best for the club? Could we possibly negotiate a trade rather than free agency which is unlikely to pay us much comp given age etc.

Pretty doubtful unless it's to a club that has some junk picks they don't value but we would. Free Agency won't give us anything.

There is some rubbish being posted in here, amoungst the realistic ones appreciating Goldy’s career with us.
This has nothing to do with ‘Clarko not rating him’ or ‘doesn’t take direction’. He is a 35 year old in the bottom team looking at bringing through rucks for the future.
If the club is only offering 1 year as back up and he has other options, it is clearly best for both parties.
He’ll probably be better off with a coaching pathway, if that is what he wants, at another club anyway, like a large number of age ing gun players before him.
Always appreciated him on and off the field, as others have also said.
All the best, will always be one of us.

Todd won’t be at north next year. Announcement coming today. Clarko doesn’t rate him.
I regularly take potshots at alleged ITKs who get things wrong so it is only fair to acknowledge kangaanth for being first with the news this morning. Well played.

Can't help but feel that we're so desperate to bring in those experienced leaders to teach the young group the way forward that we've overlooked the perfect candidate sitting right under our nose.

Fun Fact: Goldstein was the last player to be at the club at the same time as shinboner of the centenary Glen Archer. They never did play a game together because Goldy didn't actually debut until 2008 and Arch retired at the end of 2007, but Goldy was actually drafted in 2006.

Also leaves us with zero players on the list who have played 200 games for the club. The last time that was the case was in 1996/97 between Ian Fairley's last game and Mick Martyn's 200th in the 1997 finals. It was close in 2017/18 when Andrew Swallow played his last game in Scott Thompson's 200th in the last round on 2017 against the Lions.

We still have Liam Shiels so there is a 200 game player on the list. In 1997 we had John Blakey. If Shiels goes, the last time we had no one at all with 200 games experience was actually for quite a sustained period. Between John Law's last game at the end of 1989 and Ross Smith playing his 200th very early in 1995, we had no 200 game player on our list.

The only player who can get to 200 next year is Luke McDonald on 181. Jy Simpkin 134 and Kayne Turner 131 are the only others over 100 at North. Stephenson, Corr, Tucker, Greenwood, Howe and Shiels have passed 100 coming from other clubs.

One of my favourite players and shattered to see him go ( especially if it’s to them)
Only plus I can see is that this expediates the process of this being Clarkos club. His second draft upcoming , with the last 3 of the old guard now going I think it’s really like the Clarkson era really begins now

For reasons outside his control he could not be fully focused all last year. To me he looks revitalised and we are about to get what we hoped for when he first joined us .

Happy for Goldy with whatever he does now in footy. This has given me a Drew Petrie vibe. I won't think less of Goldy whoever he plays for.

I thought Goldy run out of steam the last 6 games and he is no longer top 8-10 ruck in then league. He gets less possessions and he is "bullied" by Gawn, McInerny and a few others.

He is probably still better than Xerri but now there are no excuses for our future ruck division.

Thanks for the memories Todd.

Sad he will be playing for another club, but completely understand why he has taken a 2 year deal, good luck to him. Been a great servant of the club and could have left a lot earlier and probably played in a flag elsewhere

Even sadder with our current Ruck stocks. Xerri ain't it and never will be.

Dear Todd,

Sad to see you go. I've been a strong advocate for keeping you and could easily find a spot on our 2024 and 2025 lists for you.

I mean have you seen some of the shite we'll have instead? If they're not 'stout' they're 200cm planks of wood that make Hymie look like Baryshnikov. Anyway I digress.

Unfortunately I have a strict "once you leave you're the enemy" policy.

So whether it's under Minivan Ken or Brad "Gearing" Scott, I wish this for your future endeavours.

Sorry. Just the way I roll.

Why was he never in the leadership group? Even as a vet? Odd.
Surely this year amply demonstrated that being part of the club’s leadership means very little.

Give me Todd’s playing floor any day.

Sad to see him go; loved watching him play. Understand his reasons.

This was for me the highlight of his whole career

This was kicking to where Orange Peanut and I were sitting.

The ball going through the air and I stop breathing…and then the surge of adrenaline when he took that mark saw me peak into the afterlife for a millisecond (not much there tbh)

But have a look at that pack

Extraordinary
