Seems a lot of confusion between two different camps in this thread.

One is suggesting that Greenwood has been hard done by and hence it's not a surprise he is leaving.

The other is saying he was coached correctly and that if he wants to chase $$ only then good riddance.

I actually don't see why both of these are actually correct.

Greenwood WAS coached to his benefit, and now bears the fruit of that harsh development. All the while during his development watching obviously inferior and soft players who did not play for the jumper getting games in front of him during this time, which suggests it was NOT a consistent club development process. Rather player specific, hence player favourites.

I for one am dirty on Greenwood leaving, but 100% understand why he has. On the other I think he was 100% coached to his benefit, but it's just a real shame others weren't subject to the same standards.

It's actually a very poor result for us in the end as Greenwood is now in his prime, a very important payer to us making a Prelim, and despite poor disposal a true shinboner in his style. We won't get much in return and certainly not what we should.

I read about keeping players on here and culture, back slapping and all that bullshit, but then when so many players are getting 3 year Ks on goodwill and after doing SFA of course they will stay. We also paid big $$ to various contracts to keep them away from GWS/GC. Some of them have not delivered but gives a false illusion it's all about culture when really it is all about the $$.

I will also say that I ****ing hate Pickering and his management style.

Ok, just so you know, you're not welcome to do this, particularly after the constant subtle trolling you are doing on the Collingwood board.

Also please note that Greenwood is uncontracted. As I mentioned to pies fans on our boards, you get much less value for an uncontracted player because your position in the negotiation is weaker as you risk losing the player for nothing immediately (i.e. if Beams ends up staying for the year, a team may still offer us something like a late first rounder to secure him at the end of next year rather than seeing him going to the draft). So if you want to compare Greenwood's worth in terms of picks in relation to other players, you would have to look at the uncontracted ones.
