I despised him as an opponent because I knew he could rip our heart out at any stage (especially when the game was tight) and he often did.

I'm prepared to give Luke the benefit of the doubt as it was against TullaFC. Ordinarily you'd be right, but he did the right thing (only cos it was) against the eternal enemy.

You cant fault either of Larkey or Sheezels effort over the last couple of years.

If im Sheezel i would blow up if Parker becomes captain. Real slap in the face of his development.

Put him in the leadership group, for sure, but hes not captain. He isnt Chris Judd.

Simpkin stand alone in 2025, then Sheezel from 2026 onwards for the next decade.

Sheez wouldn't blow up at all. No chance.

The reason the kid is so good he has immense respect for others and is smart enough to know he's got a lot to learn about leadership.

Parker would be perfect from a timing and handover point of view.

We lament the lack of onfield leadership yet some rail at the fact that a quality leader should be installed as captain, lest it hurt the feelings of the complete failures that have led this side.

You are not by chance confusing him with Rampe. He's the bloke who I loathe. If I'm not mistaken he's the bloke who pointed out to the umpires the interchange infraction which cost us the game against them in 2023.

I have never seen any reason to dislike Parker; in fact quite the contrary he has been one of a few opposition players I have had a lot of time for.

FWIW, I would be very wary of his motives.

I'm a big believer that learning is borne of mistakes. Don't give Parker the captaincy - there wouldn't be anything to learn. Sit Parker next to Sheezel and at every stoppage, he asks something like, "What are you seeing that's wrong?" or "What needs doing?", and give feedback. What a great opportunity to do some real time education from an expert to a protege. Set us up for the future.
