If Tarryn decides to go. Which is a big if, it says plenty about him as a person.

The club has stuck by him through a hell of a lot. If he still wants to head off and talk to other clubs about potentially jumping ship, thats really poor, and it has to be the end of the line for his time at North Melbourne.

If it is Essendon, i wouldnt bother with picks, They arent going to give up pick 8. Not a chance.

Id be posing the following:

Either Nik Cox or Zach Reid. Either an old fashioned straight swap, or a swap of late picks to iron it out. It makes plenty of sense for both parties, as these blokes need a fresh start.

There are plenty of attainable players at Essendon at the moment, who fit our needs.
Those two players put together add up to what Perez has done on a footy field

Requested a 3 year extension at $700K a few weeks back. Club hesitant given history and the message it sends.

Now testing market for similar $.

FFS - if this is true, the club needs to get over “the message it sends” and the 5 minutes of media scrutiny. This guy is potentially the best player we’ve had since Carey. Give him the contract with conditions!

Pick 5 from GC or pick 8 from * and bye bye. I mentioned he’s only another indiscretion from being kicked out earlier. This could be be great for getting another quality long term player without the baggage.

Theres as much chance of that happening as Charlie Curnow requesting a trade to North tomorrow.

Other clubs will offer something in the late 20s/early 30s.

I think behavioural clauses the sticking point. And that is too much for us.

We want him. But want him to prove he has turned it around for a longer period (ie next year) before re-signing.
They should tell him to come back in ripping shape after summer and we’ll talk about it.
Put some hard yards in and show you’ve matured

If this is the sticking point then logic says we will retain him (at least until next year) because:

  • No club is gonna offer him a contract worth the dollars listed without behavioural clauses.
  • Clubs are going to struggle on his current contract price they are buying potential, with risk.

Hoepfully the net result of this is him coming back to the club with the realisation that no one is just gonna sign him on $700+ without clauses that protect them if it goes pearshaped.

If you mail is correct it makes me comfortable.

Except they are both developing key backs, which if you havent checked lately we are a little light on for. 200cm the both of them.
One injury prone that hasn’t been seen and the other an overrated toothpick that needs to be tiled down on a windy day

We will extend him till he starts free agency I would imagine. No reason not to.

He was a bombers fan as a kid right?

You might be underrating two things...
  • how desperate * and GC are to make finals
  • the hubris of Scott and Hardwick when it comes to thinking that they can make it work

* were apparently lamenting having players rock up to preseason under done. What in the f*** do they think will happen if they sign Thomas without behavioural clauses. I am sure that he's just gonna knuckle down and hit the gym.

Gold Coast (the location) will eat him alive.

I don't disagree with you.

But do Hardwick and Brad Scott think that they won't be able to control him, I mean help him?

I wasn’t buying it but then thinking about his output over the last 6 or so games, pulling his finger out it makes since that it’s for $ and a long deal. Hopefully it’s media beat up.
He did say “I’m gonna do my two years at north” lol

Tristan Xerri requested a trade to St Kilda in 2021 and signed a three year deal with us nine months later.

Exploring options isn't that big a deal.
Exploring options after the club stuck its neck out for him earlier in the year is a bit different

IF the reports are true, then it would be a pretty shitty move after the club backed him to the hilt.

Will wait and see what happens before utterly losing it though, hope it's a massive beat up.
