IF the reports are true, then it would be a pretty shitty move after the club backed him to the hilt.

Will wait and see what happens before utterly losing it though, hope it's a massive beat up.
A shitty move but not surprising in the least. His previous sagas clearly indicated a lack of awareness in the brain department of what constitutes decent behaviour, and that sort of trait doesn't just disappear from someone. Anyhoo, let's just see how it pans out

Pick 5 from GC or pick 8 from * and bye bye. I mentioned he’s only another indiscretion from being kicked out earlier. This could be be great for getting another quality long term player without the baggage.

The problem is that he’s got the skill set we badly need. Other than LDU, he’s our only inside/outside match winner

I hear the concerns. But it is his career, and he has every right to explore his options at a time when he can set himself up for life in the next three years. Asking him to bet on himself would be foolish as the risks aren’t just his off field stuff. What if he does a knee in pre-season? I get the romanticism of us ‘looking after him’ but from the outside I don’t feel he was particularly well supported last year Pre Clarko & Co. The media are onto this one like nobody’s business so his worm of an agent, we can agree with that, is doing what managers of a lot of other players in a potential walk year would do and sounding out his market. This is just a high profile one for us and sadly he is managed by a campaigner as you call it. If we handle this as a club maturely, the outcome hopefully will be that this is the right place for him. If it’s true he asked for 700k for three more years, with the talent on our list currently and the likeliehood we could front end that given we can’t chase any free agents this year, it feels like a better bet than Fisher on 5 years for 2.2 mill which I would also do in a heartbeat. So let it play out, it’s the business of footy and until the AFL changes the rules and players have no power over trades this is the landscape. It might just allow us to rub our hands together at watching 4 years of prime time Taz if the hysteria is kept to a minimum and we treat it as a business transaction. That will be a thing of beauty.

Requested a 3 year extension at $700K a few weeks back. Club hesitant given history and the message it sends.

Now testing market for similar $.

Interesting

If this is the sticking point then logic says we will retain him (at least until next year) because:

  • No club is gonna offer him a contract worth the dollars listed without behavioural clauses.
  • Clubs are going to struggle on his current contract price they are buying potential, with risk.

Hoepfully the net result of this is him coming back to the club with the realisation that no one is just gonna sign him on $700+ without clauses that protect them if it goes pearshaped.

If you mail is correct it makes me comfortable.

That we have had our exit meetings and he hasn't formally requested a trade is telling

This feels like classic Clarko: "No Tarryn you should listen to your managed, go and see what is out there" knowing full well there's nothing as good as what we have.

Silver linings: His indiscretions were in the first half of the year. His second half of the year was fantastic. His contracted for another year. GC is a clear potential suitor and has a first round pick they can't use, which would drive up the price.

I don't want him to go and hope this is a beat up, although the setup could be a lot worse.

Understandable, but as FW said, I am happy for an extension with behavioural clauses. Testing the market is interesting, but if done under club permission, then I’m not too worried.

I should have said I’m tired of hearing stories like this, as we don’t know what’s happening.

It’s been exciting to see him get back to playing good footy and apparently enjoying himself. He is entitled to have his manager talk to other clubs and North, with a contract, is entitled to either insist he stays or look at a suitable deal. I’d love him to stay, based on what we can see on the field, but either way, things look a lot brighter all round than they did a few months ago.

On reflection, Essendon can still go **** themselves.

Classic ensuring he's fully invested.

Also, Essendon have got the coach that led North into four years of utter shitness, and are now trying to prise out our ageing ruck we made clear in Rd1 was second banana, an injury prone KPD we're clearly not desperate to keep and a hugely talented guy in recovery they would need to massively overpay for.

Brad: I'm setting ruthless new standards of professionalism, no more partying in Ibiza!

Also Brad: Stuff it, I'm giving Tarryn whatever he wants.

Essendon are very much *ing themselves, have no worry about that.

Brad's floundering and Dodo is spinning his usual bullshit to wIn tRaDe wEeK and keep the wolves from the door.

Theres as much chance of that happening as Charlie Curnow requesting a trade to North tomorrow.

Other clubs will offer something in the late 20s/early 30s.
What would you offer for Jordan DeGoey? Certainly more than that.

I see them both in exactly the same light.

He can’t be that stupid to be reunited with Brad, good luck having any success at that club with that imposter, especially with more internal issues.
Those same fans he will be playing for were the ones who bood him every time he touched the ball in his first game back this year.
TT, if you are thinking of going, just remember who your current coach chose and rejected last year and who’s going to turn you into a top 10 player and who’s gonna sell you stories.

As would I.

2 set of clauses, 1 behavioural, 1 performance.

He'd get a hefty contract and the ability to push it higher on field and the club would get a level of protection on investment.

The reality is we lost more than half a season from him because he wasn't footballing.

If we had gotten a whole season, where it took him a month to get going, then he started delivering output like the end of the year, our W/L would look different.
