I know a lot of the blame is being pointed at Boomer (and rightly so) for being undisciplined. But I think the 17 other teammates on the paddock need to take some blame too. For far too long Boomer has received the number 1 hard tag from the opposition, and he gets little to no support from his teammates as a chopout.

Have a close look at a Geelong game and see how they do everything in their power to ensure Selwood has a free run at it.

This is something that needs to be addressed by the coaching panel. Players like Picken should be coming off the ground battered and bruised (legally of course) having received a bit of extra attention from the entire playing group.

Otherwise, Boomer is just human. We are known to snap.

Mullett has good pace and likes a goal. Agree he's form is terrible but I'd rather retain the backline structure with Atley and minimise positional changes generally.

Unfortunately (not the first time I've said it) our almost complete aversion to drafting linebreakers will sting this week with the omissions we've got.

None of the players in the VFL such as Dumont, Hine, Wood, Anthony, McGenniss etc provide depth in this area.

Edit: Silver could shoulder the load mentally. Physically not so sure. Right now he's labouring to get a kick being a young battered player.

This is really a time for NDS as you say plus Bastinac to cover the sudden outside run deficit.

What he did was totally selfish , plenty of players get tagged every week and don't do what he did . He put himself above the team , most people said what Lake did was a dogs act so I find it hard to see it any different .

Well, in the grainy video we see Picken come up behind Harvey...then Harvey goes bananas, throwing him over his shoulder and so on.

What I take from that is:

1. Picken must have done something to make Harvey react, no matter how innocuous that something may have been (we don't know yet);

2. Whatever it was, it is hard to see that it was much more innocuous than Thommo giving Hall a nudge while he was tying his laces.

Whatever the case, it will be interesting to see how we approach this at the Tribunal.

I imagine we have learned from Lake's folly in trying to plead not guilty to the charge (thereby losing the benefit of any reduction in sentence for a guilty plea), but rather try and plead guilty to a lesser charge. I just can't see the tribunal throwing out the misconduct charge, and would expect that if Hall's matter happened in 2014 rather than 2010 he would be up for misconduct, not wrestling.

We might well be better off approaching the tribunal hearing from a damage control perspective and focussing on getting the penalty as small as possible. E.g by using arguments like early guilty plea means get full benefit of the discount, there was provocation which should be taken into account, and that the nature of the misconduct was at the lowest end of the scale, ie more akin to wrestling (which ordinarily would attract a fine) than to say eye gouging or chicken winging (which are Juddy bad behaviour).

All up we might argue that the appropriate punishment is a heavy fine, or maybe 1 week off at maximum when the 40% loading gets brought into account, and hope that that helps push the tribunal down from say a 3 or 4 week punishment down to a 2 week punishment. That might be safer than trying to do what Lake did and walk straight into a month off, which is likely if he pleads not guilty from the outset.

Conca got two weeks for chasing someone down who was headed for the bench, and smashing him in the back of the head with his elbow when he wasn't looking. As far as im concerned, that is as bad as it gets.

Merrett got off for smashing Pedersons nose from pillar to post (apparently he was going the ball and wellsy wasn't).

Boomer should just plead guilty, and hopefully he'll be back cherry ripe for the first final against the scum.

On a scale of 1-10 if Lakes was a 10 Harvey's was a 2. There is your difference.

If Picken is the stand-up guy some are making him out to be he will firstly confess to being a coward that has eyes for the player and never the ball. The real courage is putting your head over the ball - he is unable to do this. Secondly he tells the tribunal he felt minimal force on the side of his neck and at no stage did he think he was in any trouble - just a stock standard wrestle that happens 100 times a game. Thirdly he asks the tribunal to suspend him for bringing the game into disrepute.

I think you need to get out of your hole, best case scenario is 2 weeks, worst case is 3 weeks I believe. It will be one or the other.
