Is it a coincidence that both had a shocker on Friday?
Or perhaps did the game plan we went into the game with have something to do with it? We went to play a congested brand of football, in order to limit the effectiveness of Carlton's midfield, which in fairness almost worked. But with so many of our own players around the ball, it was pretty difficult to generate any run, spread and effective disposal. I reckon that style of play put extra pressure on Boomer and Wellsy especially.

Hope they aren't being hampered by unreported injuries. I'd expect both to bounce back on Sunday.

Harvey clearly wasn't right as demonstrated by his broken hand and perhaps a couple of other niggles that were holding him back. He deserves a long earned break the little champ.

I'm not sure what's wrong with Wells. Even agienst Brisbane he didn't have much of a influence, but not only did he struggle to have an impact on Friday night but he was butchering the ball left, right and center which is a concern since he's one of our classy users. His contented game has also really improved this season which is why I'm left scratching my head that he couldn't apply himself at the contests despite our inside style of play.

Wellsy was a little odd he was not as manic as he has been which has seen his star rise.

On a few occasions he really was not full throttle. He should have got Judd and the ball over the boundary near the interchange he took that one a little easy and got caught out by Kade Simpson when he hit the post from outside 50 he was very lax on the mark he just seemed a little off in effort. Just a couple of small things l will be watching him closer this week.

The first think to come to my head was I hope he does not have an injury
Hopefully he is back and burning this week loves the Hawks does Wellsy

I would put the run and spread down to fatigue and maybe Goldy not dominationg as much after quarter time hopefully the 9 day break revitalises the boys.

My theory is that if the game was at the MCG we would've won, it was too congested for these types, although Judd would probably carve us up there too.

Both have played there best footy at Etihad this year so l would not agree with that one Jozeph. There was room to exploit but both had players quick enough not to let them.

Are you kidding me? Firstly North rarely ever play at the MCG, and second Carlton's midfield would have exploited us for outside run on the bigger venue. One thing we were trying to obtain was giving guys like Judd, Simpson, Murphy and Gibbs space for creative, otherwise let them off the leash and we're exposed for pace.

There's the rub, Wells and Harvey get shut down at Docklands, but we don't want to play at the 'G' because that will expose our lack of pace.

Strong work from jozeph here.

That extra few meters of space would have been the difference! It doesn't really matter since wherever the ball was there were 200 players around the ball, wouldn't have mattered if we played on flat open wasteland.

Carlton has lost two games this year at the G

against Collingwood by 28 points
and
against Collingwood by 19 points

I think you might want to re-think that theory

Re Wells:
I thought he just had an off game... we did play Ellard on him who's a prolific tackler... but I think it was just a one off kind of night

Re Boomer:
For a player that normally carves us up to pieces, I was really disappointed with his endeavour. He basically did even try to tackle Yarran whilst he was running past, tried to take too much on when Garlett brought him down, and just played in a way where he has never before against us

Despite his improved consistency this year, it is clear to me that the better taggers are still getting to him mentally at times.

I've watched him closely, from his body language you can see he's really getting sick of the blocks, bumps & niggles well away from the ball (30 metres away or more).

Teammates look after him ok with blocks around the stoppages. But when just cruising up & down the field catching up to the play he is often targeted, increasingly so as the season has progressed.

Not sure if this guy should be leading our squad, lacks the leadership component, great player, but should be dragging us over the line, that's twice in 2 weeks when he got caught on the fifty trying to do too much when we needed a goal.

Harvey is a great leader and not every leader has to be outspoken. He leads by example and he has earned that right.Swallow next in line.Quiet game today but that happens. He has plenty of points in the bank.

JZ captain next year please. Love Swallow but seems to go missing in big games to often for mine.

Your trolling is just getting pitiful now.

Your boy didn't do much either chief, definitely not a big game player is he?, I was a bit quick to pull the trigger on Brent, but by god he seems to get caught a lot lately, next year will be his last at anyrate.

He should just be playing in the forward line but there are usually 2 or 3 of our mids playing like they are in a coma in any given week.
