And how painful was it seeing our rightful father-son Blakey, dominating for Sydney last night, when a week ago, we had to sack our academy player - TT, and we get nothing for many years of investment.

Probably, another player who will get to Sydney for free and turn his life around and will be a star. And it will be so good for the game.....

GET STUFFED !
I'm so glad someone else posted this. Both the Blakey and TT situations have been living rent free in my head for some time. Get stuffed indeed.

Pedlar has had his moments for sure is a big bullocking unit who can kick a goal, a bit of Zurhaar about him. No out and out guns on that list though.

******* oath he was. At pick 56 too. He was the 4th last player drafted.

I’m looking more closely at the first 2 rounds.

Here’s the 1st round selections at other clubs after our first pick that we had access to:

Logan McDonald
Denver Granger-Barrass
Elijah Hollands
Nick Cox
Archie Perkins
Zac Reid
Luke Pedlar
Tanner Bruhn
Heath Chapman
Connor Stone
Oliver Henry
Ryan Angwin
Finlay McRae
Max Holmes
Jake Bowey
Bailey Laurie
Brayden Cook
Matthew McLeod-Allison

Would you trade one of Phillips or Powell either now or in two years time for a player on that list?
The only ones that look good, are the ones who have been playing in top 4 sides.
That’s Henry and Holmes and Bowey.
Pedlar has shown signs as well.

The rest is underwhelming.
I’ll be keen to revisit this draft again this time next year.
Geez you wouldnt want to finish near the bottom that year.

Phillips regardless of how he ends up was the right choice.
The 2020 draft will go down as the worst in history. Covid ****ed it for that year.

Logan McDonald makes CCJ look like prime Paul Salmon.
Ridiculously s**t
Unfortunately Will is never going to appease some people no matter what he does, in my eye he is tracking on par for everything he's gone through, yet I've read that he's a bust, if he doesn't make it this year, that's it, no more excuses, for heavens sake its getting
ridiculous, yes I know he was a high draft pick but you must factor in everything when making an assessment and I can assure you that the club has a very different view on how Will is tracking, end of story.

Now on to Logan, as I have stated before its not his fault that we compare their trajectory since every club as well as ours have compared the two and most other supporters have stated that we should have taken Logan instead of Will. At the time that would have been a mistake and looking at it now nothing in the time since has changed my opinion on this matter, we did indeed make the right choice and in some games you can witness what he is capable of and bare in mind he's basically two to three years of fitness and football devoid, but you WILL see some people pronounce him a wasted draft pick which I find most illogical and doesn't match up with what I've seen and everything else combined.

This is no different than taking a ruckman or key forward in the draft, a lot of people WILL have a certain amount of patience to start with but after say a period of three to four years most people jump ship and WILL denounce that player and even pile on him, when in actual fact that person unknowingly didn't have the required patience to start with. At that draft, I had Logan in the top ten, there wasn't any doubt he was a promising forward, lets be fair here, he showed some good traits, but then it happened, whether it was the media or a couple of recruiters or even a combination of both, Logan all of a sudden became a generational footballer, rose in the draft like "Lazarus", and every supporter of rival clubs criticized us in like biblical proportions, and you can add some well known football people on that list as well.

While everyone has there own opinion and quite possibly won't budge on this issue, I think the most important word here is patience, on every board, every club, over countless years many supporters have done this and while sometimes they are proven correct a large amount of the time they are wrong in going way to early in their assessment of the player. I have stated before the two classic examples, Christian Petracca, who on the Melbourne board, supporters were saying he's not going to make it and he's so overrated and much worse, sound familiar! Luke Davies Uniacke another one, now while he's not quite at that level yet, bar injury I'm quite confident he'll get there and much more. Last year he showed actual games that he is on the verge of being the player we knew he would become until he got injured, fingers crossed.

Yes, it's an interesting draft that one, two players I have a big opinion of is Heath Chapman and Zach Reid, both have had their share of injuries and this year I think they will break out, if given the chance. Zach looks to me as a CHB and Heath gives me utility vibes in that I think half back & midfield will be his go, that lad has a lot of ability.

Why do we always compare Phillips and Rowell? Just because they played in the same junior footy team?

Stevie wonder could see that Rowell’s talent is in another stratosphere compared to Will’s

Or trade out your first from a draft with Serong, Pickett, Flanders, Day, Young, Weightman and De Koenig all going between 5-20 in order to get another pick in it.
100%. People can debate Phillips all they want but this is the one that killed us, I can still remember how shattered I was when we traded that pick.

The first confirmed case of Covid was the 25th of January 2020.
We traded our 2019 first round to Melbourne on the 14th of October 2019.
We cost ourselves Serong or Pickett but how were we to know I guess?
The tactic is just ****ing shit and I hated it then as much as we all hate it now. Just a stupid egotistical ‘look at me’ “I can wheel and deal” type bullshit by the club.
Regardless of whether it was unlucky or not it was a low reward high risk move that backfired.
Anyway it’s done, no point getting angry over it because we have gone through this a million times now.

The outcome of that trade was Tom Powell so I don't care. I think even the Phillips haters can probably agree Tom is something special.

I really rate Powell, but that pick swap cost us Serong. Powell has a loooooong way to go before he gets close to matching Serong’s output and influence on games.

Wasn't the rumour we were into Flanders?

Anyway, hopefully Powell can make the decision look good over the next decade.

Romantic in me says we'd have been mad not to look at him, as a Gippsland-based North fan. Few sliding doors there

The next six live picks in order were Caleb Serong, Sam Flanders, Kysaiah Pickett, Will Day, Miles Bergman, and Cody Weightman. I rate Powell, but you'd comfortably take any of those players over him at the moment.

What hurts most, is that with Flynn Perez, Jack Mahony, and Phoenix Spicer, we went 0 for 3 on the steak knives that we picked up from our wheeling and dealing over the 2019 and 2020 periods.

Anyway, I think Powell looked great all summer up until he moved into the familiar abyss at half-forward after Jy went down. Hopefully, he stays as an on-baller, whether it be at AFL or VFL level. I'd much rather see Sheezel slotted into Jy's expected role, with Fisher, Scott, McKercher, Goater, Corr, Dawson, and Pink/Nyuon to play in defence.
