Can't say I thought Shiels was better than Phillips in preseason games, and did Ford even play in an actual preseason game at AFL level?

Nah. I reckon Phillips must have pulled up at training today.
All along, I reckoned one of the certainties for R1 was Shiels. We need to have one player who’s past kindergarten in the engine room - for a modicum of stability. Having said that, he might start as sub.

The person who told me, who is pretty spot on with this stuff, was absolutely flabbergasted he wasn't in the 25.

No one knows why at this stage, but she and I both reckon he must have tweaked something at training today.
He was participating in tackling drills I saw today, and laying solid tackles. They went inside after 15-20 minutes but there didn’t appear to be anything physically wrong with him.

I’m more surprised that Miller Bergman isn’t in the team. I think with one thing and another they have picked a team to give a few guy’s a taste and fill in for our missing leaders.

Despite saying in the press we had 42 of 44 available I don’t think we are going in with the best side we could have, but I have faith that they know what they’re doing.

I'm not sure what you guy's are looking at? He's been miles off the pace all pre-season, in the 2s from the start. Clarko's no fool. He's running on a treadmill in open play, there's no room in the modern game for Will's type. Unfortunately I can't see his limitations as fixable. It's a shame because he seems a ripping kid.

Why do we always compare Phillips and Rowell? Just because they played in the same junior footy team?

Stevie wonder could see that Rowell’s talent is in another stratosphere compared to Will’s
That’s news to me. It was made very clear on here that Will Phil will be better than Rowell. And I’m pretty sure the person stating that was serious.

The outcome of that trade was Tom Powell so I don't care. I think even the Phillips haters can probably agree Tom is something special.
Let’s maybe wait until Powell can consolidate his spot in a bottom 2 team before making that call.

You could put Jack Silvagni in a NM jumper and suddenly he’d have Carey-like attributes on here.

Well there you go. If he's come from training midway through that's close to confirmation for me.

LOL. Was just about to post likewise. Heath’s close contact is in trouble. :stern look

Great minds think alike, an intellectual 69 if you will.

Out of contract end of the year.

Second season in a row he hasn't been picked round 1.

I have serious concerns for Will moving forward. Simply put, he's just behind the other mids.

I haven't seen any concrete evidence that he has developed as a player in his time at North.
