The only 10 wickets loss Australia has had in ODI cricket came in Wellington in 2007 when most of Australia's best players were resting ahead of the upcoming World Cup in the West Indies.
That isn't all of them since it stops at 2016 but it still hasn't happened at home

Here are a couple of hints for the future
1 / it's a 50 over game . You don't need a thrashing machine like JFM who comes off about once in every 5 innings to open.
2/ Short is a bit of a journeyman if you ask me and shouldn't be there
3/ how many times have we said it but there is no place for Smith and Marnus in the same team.

A 10 wicket belting within 20 overs against these pissants 😅
This is probably the mindset that has the side in this mess today.

They have a great bowling attack and some talented batsmen. We've clearly taken them too lightly (which you'd think we'd have learned not to do after the WI Test debacle).

So the bats aren't scoring, the bowlers aren't taking wickets and Harris scored runs to threaten for a place agaisnt India

Not sure the day could go any worse
Young Pakistani’s playing like batsmen as opposed to our mutants

There’s nothing wrong with a thrashing machine that only comes off every now and then. The key is having a decent one that is going to pay rich dividends on the days when he gets past 10-20.

Jayasuriya was the original long term thrashing machine (yes we had Greatbatch sent in to pinch hit in 1992 etc etc) and Kaluwitharana was the precursor to Sanath making the role his own but he was really the first just out and out long term opener to go up there without a care in the world and try and slog it. He passed 50 96 times in 450 matches or near enough and turned 28 of them into centuries. So even the very best at the role are not going to deliver all that often

Mind you he was also a very decent ODI bowler so he had extra value

But the question with someone like JFM is whether he is actually ever going to be good enough to deliver with even close to THAT sort of regularity and whether he can turn his 50s into 70s, his 70s into 100s etc

His average isn't awful but i've never really thought Marnus was a very good short form batter. There just isn't much else better I guess.

Jayasuriya was more than a thrashing machine he had a good technique to keep out the good ones
