Funnily enough the biggest thrashing I’ve seen was at the Adelaide Oval with Australia getting the win before the interval. Can’t remember if it was Sri Lanka or Pakistan the loser, but they ended up playing a T20 I think for the crowd!!!

I was just thinking about that. First time I'd seen another game organised, within a game

Mark Waugh "Australia have just had a day off and nicked everything", yeah Junior it was just bad luck rather than bad batting.
Didn't nick everything, JFM missed a straight one completely. It's embarrassing to think he can play for Australia.

Writing was on the wall early.
Fraser-mcgurk doesn’t seem to have the footwork or mindset at this level yet. Looks a one trick pony.
Inglis ramp shot in the first 10 overs.

Labuschagne has fallen off the planet..

A pummeling.
The sport would be eminently more watchable if there was no Labuschagne

Can add Smith too unfortunately.
Gun bat in a bit of decline ( understandably) but his over the top mannerisms and reaction to getting out takes away from watching him bat imo.

Short and Inglis worth persistence but the others should not be anywhere near selection
Why is Short worth persisting with? He's 29, his domestic career is a patchwork of below average.

Fraser-Mcgurk is what he is . Highly doubt you'll see him tighten his technique or method up .
He is the prototype of the modern short form player . High talent , see ball hit ball and hope it comes off. All eye and hands.

A 20/20 dream. Just not sure he has the tools and patience for 50 over cricket. Unless his coaches just want him going nuts in overs 1-20 and if he goes out, then so be it.

Greg Chappell saw him get 70 off 46 balls in some puss Vic pathway game about 12 years ago and he got a free pass since then…then JFM got a similar ride

No one has been given the ride this bloke has.

I continue to repeat TALENT is the most overrated thing in Australian cricket particularly batting

Stoinis has been given a better ride so far. A lot of players getting picked on one T20 season and then stick around, but putting up numbers consistently domestically seems to get you nowhere unless you played for the Australian U19 team.

Dan Hughes is the man that should have a crack as opener for me.

Has the runs on the board from last season and heard he had a decent English season of late.

Like the Test positions, with the departure of Warner, the spot is open for a player to partner Travis Head in champions trophy. Fraser-McGurk doesn't get a look in this side if Head is fit. And Labuschagne probably doesn't get a look in the side if Marsh is fit.

Fraser-Mcguirk will be good once he learns he can bat in a lower gear as he has ability. Right now, he has to learn you can't just slog every ball from top, international bowlers, especially against a swinging new ball. He'd be better batting down the order against an older ball right now. That, or not play ODIs at all until he learns to pace himself properly and not hit a 6 every ball as it ends one way.

Must admit, if he can stay in for 45 minutes it will be fun to watch.

Greg Chappell…once my guru, now just somebody I used to know…he’s behind the step change that ****ed the whole show

Few people throwing the baby out with the bath water after todays loss

lets calm down and look at the situation

Missing our two best ODI cricketers our opener and number three/captain plus our gun allrounder.....Head Marsh Green missing from out top six...thats a huge hole for any side to fill

lets look at the replacements

Short played 10 games 8 innngs
McGurk 4 games 4 innings
Hardie 10 games 7 innings

even inglis has only played 25 games with only 23 innings and only 5 of them have had him batting at 4

So that's not a lot of experience at this stage

The one who does worry me is Marnus....played over 50 games and still for me has not nailed a position. Honestly I just don't like Smith and Marnus both in the same side

I know its frustrating but this squad recently won 3/2 in england so they have talent...lets back them in and see how they go come perth.....if we get smashed again ...yes we need to look into what we are doing wrong

Yeah good call jim...for me he looks the natural replacement to Maxi....and bat seven...where he can come in and have a licence to go for it ....and lets face it maxi has been doing that for years
