Well it is and always will be the players fault.

Nah, sometimes the coach ****s up, but that game rests squarely with the players.

Seriously, we are in a good position and if a couple of things go right we could find ourselves with a shot at the flag and you want Laidley out because he told an under fit Harro to get fitter (which he is doing)?

Or is this still about Joel Perry?

Really has nothing to do with Harris. I think Laidley will be gone.

They're seperate, exclusive opinions.

my best 3k run was in just over 10 mins and 30 seconds i cant remember what it was.
that was at my peak of fitness tho.
i want to beat it this year.

I think Laidley will be gone.

Looking at our draw, it should be a very clear cut decision based on what we face in the first half of the season.

Every game is in Victoria with 2 at the MCG, 8 at Docklands, and 1 at the Baked Potato Stadium. Barring a horrendous run of injuries, Laidley should have us comfortably in the top 8 going in the 2nd half of the season. If we're outside of the top 8 after round 11, I doubt he'll get an extension.

Well given they have to make the decision in the first half of the season, you must be really counting down the days until this season starts.

It will be just like 2006 all over again....what laughs!

Can someone tell RB that my three-year-old son has hacked into his account?

But seriously, does Laidley's strategy in trade week not earn any credits at all?
Leaving the McIntosh ****UP aside (because strategic doesn't come close), Im comfortable with them putting Harris up. It's like Moran, if they aren't going to use him, or it wont work, then **** it trade them.

I re-interate, my intitial, gentle, welcome to 2009, stiring of Zebs aside, my opinion that Laidley is in his last season as coach at North isn't related to his handling of Harris.

And as for three year old hacked the account banter, when have you been amazing at the highest level? This guy has...

... and he doesn't resort to hacked the account.

I don't know that it'll play out like that.

But with 11 games in Melbourne to start the year, I cant see the board wanting to make a decision before it gets a look at us on a the road.

So there might be an impasse. I can't say Im going to give a **** if Laidley insists on a call from the board mid year and they tell him to wait.

What an Aylett era **** up though hey?

A mid-season renewal clause isn't great, but it is done. There is an agreement in a place, the terms of that are out there, and it was done in good faith by the administration of the time, so if we have a good first half to the season and the board chose to hold off on renewal - I can't see how anything good will come out of that. Bad publicity, and it will very likely to have a big impact on the playing group and possibly derailing the year.

Plus, they were talking about early re-newal after a 6 games streak in which we only played two teams in the 8 last year, so I don't think they massively sceptical or wary of continuing with Laidley.

I think 8-3 is very good considering we play all games in Victoria but also play all of last year's top 4.

Laidley's last two seasons have been very good and the list looks in great shape right now. Selection has been an issue, but with the last two years de-listings there are only a couple of players that it will be frustrating if he continues to persist with over guys with more upside.

Yet another Football/Training thread that's turned into a sack the coach/don't sack the coach - sack a player/don't sack a player highjack. Bloody hell! Thought I was on the Richmond Board for a moment -what was the original post again ? - I forgot.

Unless Harris goes with Laidley to another club, Laidley won't be coaching Harris in 2010.

Yep. I definitely agree with your sentiments.

Unless we have a successful finals series, i really can't see how we could justify re-signing him.

I also think if he holds us to that contract which stipulates that there be a decision made by round 11, then there's no choice but to end it there with him.

And what happens to the players who again don't perform in September Nick?

Do they get delisted or traded?

A new coach would almost certainly have a clean-out. He'd want to do it with his list.

I thought our club had adopted a system similar to the Hawthorn model where they have a list manager who is responsible for trading and drafting decisions. The coach has an input, but the list manager has the final say.

So any new coach would have to adapt to our system if they were to take on the job.

Umm, I'd say what Mr. R (quoted below) said would be the most likely outcome...

That was my impression although things can change. I wouldn't be thrilled with a coach slashing our list. I don't think we have massive issues with that area.

Moron.

Read the thread.

Where does anyone call for Laidley to be sacked? This is precisely the sort of hyperbolic 'with or or against us' shit that annoys people on here.

People who use the Richmond Board call should officially be punched in the balls by the Mods.

It's possibly a matter of 'influence'. The new coach (if we were to get one) would have some influence on the sizes of the list, the age and experience, the mix of talls and shorts, the recruitment of under 18s and rookies. His would not be the major say in these decisions.

However, IMO he'd have a big say in which experienced players he wants to offload as perceived listcloggers and which players he wants to recruit from other clubs.

He might not slash the list but we would definitely have players that Laidley regards more highly than other coaches do. We would also have players that a new coach regards more highly than Laidley does.

I can see the adaptation to systems being a two way street if the coach is a good one with his own ideas and beliefs.

Are you guys on crack or something?

Get the thread back on topic, or I am the only one that has just hit the roof at the thought of our previously rookie listed fullback destroying all the short people in the time trial?

This is huge news, and a fantastic sign that the faith invested (after all, we did give him a senior list place after playing no games!) may reap some big rewards. We're all aware of the hole at full back, we're all aware that Spud deserves to be running off his man, and we're all aware that Scotty Thompson is still undersized.

It's good to see that they will give a few guys a crack, but I have to hope the shotgun rule applies, and Grima gets first dibs. Impressive.

I didn't call anyone a moron, ok I will now........ Moron. Where am I calling for anyone to be with us or against us? just pointing out that lots of football and training information related threads end up being a critique of the coach or one of the players. As a fairly new member of this board I would like to have an input into some threads that I find interesting, but as I can't get to the computer during the day, I find it a bit disapointing that, by the time I read the thread for the first time, it is already of topic and going down the same well trodden path as many before it. The reference to Richmond was a little attempt at humour/irony seeing as how often they sack their coach. ;) Sorry mods, hope my balls are safe :D

Thanks for asking mate. The surgery has done the job and my snag is coming along nicely.:thumbsu:

As for Laidley, I expect him to be chasing Ross Lyon's job come Round 12 eventhough he is in contract.

Took your advice and read the thread again, this seems to suggest sacking the coach.:p

That's Zondor, and doesn't count, and isn't suggesting a sacking.

MODS!!! Where's the cockpunching at?
