He didn't play this week because he wasn't ready. It is hard to see how another quarter makes him ready.

This is why I think Brad needs to reign it in during the press conferences. He's creating a rod for his own back and this is not a club that manages to get everyone pulling in the same direction with any ease.

Reid is not 'ready' as defined by the ultra conservative manntra being preached. No amount of BS/neurolinguistic programming at a press conference will change that.

I've got to say, I hope we are going down the BS route because the alternative is not great. Obviously they are not going to let him play unless he is medically sound but medically sound was not the standard for Reid, as was made abundantly clear.
He's injured Bruno. He wasn't yanked after a quarter to play next week.

I don't think it's justified putting a line through young KPPs this early in their career. Darcy Moore looked like the collingwood version of Gumby for a while there with constant injuries but he's grown into his body in time.

100% this.
It does point to poor strategy by dodoro though. To load up on so many young talls in two consecutive drafts (bryan too) knowing it will take them a number of years to develop.

Not unusual to get hamstring issues after back troubles. Needs to join Hirdy in some ballet and Pilates classes.

He’s a young KPD that is still filling out and building his body, probably 24 months away from getting AFL “fit”.

Some of the AFLW players do pilates but I don’t think any do ballet

The amount of preventable injury that even laypeople have a half idea about what is causing it, you’d think the sports physio guys would be all over it?

Like surely sport physio people with uni degrees know more than just RICER and running programs

Maybe pilates viewed as too edgy after 2012?

That was the point allow them to develop for the long term. Look at Carlton with weitering, Curnow and mckay. No one complains about them taking too many talls at once, they were drafted 8 years ago. Young talls need 4/5 years minimum.

Fair points, I guess then the fault lies with those in charge not selling the right message and setting unrealistic expectations in this period where they are developing.

The club has been all over the place on messaging. Sometimes we’re rebuilding and it’s development years. Sometimes we’re pushing for finals. Often switches mid year.

Too late
Back to running? I don't think he's ever been up to running, has he?
Reid
There you go, I ruled a line through him.

As I won't make it at all or he will make it elsewhere as a fwd?
Getting to the point that he may not make it at all . I just do not see him building up the physical strength if he can not stay on the park. At this rate he will be 25-26 before he has enough size about him. I have always had a question mark on his pace off the mark. His 20m sprint times where only average. If he does not have the pace off the mark to match the quicker forwards and he can not play on the bigger blokes the options become limited. It is a harsh call and I may be 100% off the mark but I am not seeing it as far as FB goes. Maybe he ends up being a forward.

Is it a poor strategy? We have a shitload of mids, so we're clearly just drafting to our need of talls.

Only looks poor when they get injured. If they have no injuries both Reid and Cox are most likely playing now in their 3rd year. Same with Jones.

Wasn’t he at one time supposed to be the most promising of the three we got at the end of 2020?

Some had that view yes. I was always more Nick Cox myself.
