Just remove the restricted part where they have an opportunity to matchDifficult to police, but something along the lines of ‘if there wasn’t a compensation selection in play, would you want to keep this player?’ would make sense to add to the rubric.
Doedee for example represents a pretty natural parting of ways for someone wanting to get to a contender and the Crows having an able replacement available in Worrell.
No way in hell North let McKay leave without the lure of high end comp. Hell, we didn’t even want Daniher to leave and we weren’t even getting high end comp.
As long as he stays on the park…I’m not overly fussed with the cap space. It’s my opinion that you trust clubs to correctly manage their cap until they prove they can’t.
Look at Carlton for example everyone has blasted them for wasting money on McGovern, Martin, Z.Williams but has it prevented them from retaining any players?
What I do worry about is the overall vision of the club. Are Cox and Reid no longer expected to be big pieces of our future?
High draft picks are what desperate clubs need to keep their fans at bay from poor performances. We’ve been there. Is he actually any good? All I've heard about him all year is how North can't wait to offload him to get pick 3.
Just remove the restricted part where they have an opportunity to match
And it means we aren't manipulating contracts for a particular result of compensation, so the result should be more authentic.Even still, matching is at best an empty threat because all you’re doing is forcing a trade, the player will never stay. And nor should they have to by the way.
we might've paid overs for him but realistically big defenders come at a premium and i think he'll slot into our defense nicely, especially because it'll allow ridley et al to all play the roles they're meant to instead of filling in as they've done historically.
just need to work on his kicking skills, but that's something a few players need to do
Well that proves that test is crap. Hibberd, Coughlan, O'Kearney, Mathieson, Mountford and McKay at a minimum are poor kicks at AFL level.2015 AFL Draft Combine top performers:
Kicking test
Mitchell Hibberd - 24 (out of a possible 30)
Nick Coughlan - 23
Darcy MacPherson - 22
Thomas Glen - 22
Matthew Allen - 22
Jade Gresham - 21
Nick O'Kearney - 21
Rhys Mathieson - 21
Declan Mountford - 21
Jordan Snadden - 21
Ben McKay - 21
Charlie Curnow - 21
something's changed since then clearly because he's had a lot of shockers on the field.2015 AFL Draft Combine top performers:

All tests are snap shots of ability rather than true reflections. Down with standardised testing. Start the revolution!Well that proves that test is crap. Hibberd, Coughlan, O'Kearney, Mathieson, Mountford and McKay at a minimum are poor kicks at AFL level.
This is why you need draft watchers that see whole games including the bad ones, and not just highlights reels, stats and combine results. All tests are snap shots of ability rather than true reflections. Down with standardised testing. Start the revolution!
Yep. It's also why no-one should ever trust my draft choices. This is why you need draft watchers that see whole games including the bad ones, and not just highlights reels.
On that one I still think he’ll work out. It just might be at another club in about 6 years from now, that’s all.Yep. It's also why no-one should ever trust my draft choices.
I'll take this moment to apologise for barracking so hard for Dodo to select Nik Cox. I take full responsibility.
Can a backline with McKay, Baldwin, Ridley and Cox work? I don't think so. Too tall and too slow. I don't know where Cox fits in now.On that one I still think he’ll work out. It just might be at another club in about 6 years from now, that’s all.
Could be a Ridley replacement at the rate we’re going
Two are AFL and two are VFL… and then you get two retired and two AFL in a couple/few years. Can a backline with McKay, Baldwin, Ridley and Cox work? I don't think so. Too tall and too slow. I don't know where Cox fits in now.
What does your first choice back six look like? I've got;Two are AFL and two are VFL… and then you get two retired and two AFL in a couple/few years.
Well so far we have exactly the same as we had this year but with less Zerk and more BucketsWhat does your first choice back six look like? I've got;
Redman - McKay - McGrath
Hind - Baldwin - Ridley
Well so far we have exactly the same as we had this year but with less Zerk and more Buckets
So that’d apparently be Redman McGrath Kelly Heppell McKay Ridley and Laverde
cue melts
Is that your first choice though?Well so far we have exactly the same as we had this year but with less Zerk and more Buckets

My first choice is that we upgrade Heppell and maybe Kelly, but we don’t really have that option in front of us at this stage. Could do with another Saad/McKenna as well but Hind ain’t itIs that your first choice though?
You're very diplomatic, Lore.My first choice is that we upgrade Heppell and maybe Kelly, but we don’t really have that option in front of us at this stage. Could do with another Saad/McKenna as well but Hind ain’t it
