Agree with this and FWIW I still think he's had a good year. That said I also think we have at least one 3rd tall type over requirements now, even with Garner out of the team. I think if we plan on running with Larkey, Brown, Zurhaar then we don't need JZ, Garner & Wood. Can't see us trading JZ so it probably comes down to what value we can get for either. I certainly wouldn't be offloading Wood for the hell of it though, it's not a firesale situation.

Wood has played more games.

TG has been getting shots, but missing, he's rusty.

This is as good as Wood gets, and he's been dropped.
 
I told Mason at the 150th Dinner how proud I am of him. And I went on to tell him how he needs to toughen up. I tried to use the eulogy of how I've had to toughen up over the years. I was telling him how I converted to Judaism to celebrate us making the Prelim in 2007 while I was in Adelaide - AKA The City of Churches. Anyway, to cut a long story short, I was telling him how when my work colleagues found out about my conversion, they'd work into my office and yell "Hi Hitler!!!" Initially, it used to annoy me, but now I just respond with "Yeah, hey mate, how's it going?" They soon got it.
And now that I'm the 12th highest paid employee at the franchise, I'm starting to get the respect I deserve anyway.

Mason seemed to take it all on board. He'll come good.

No tay tay no wood. It’s 2020.
Time to move on from both. Heartbreakingly they are my 2 favourite players but they have burnt me too many times now 😔

Played most of 2017, was a vanilla flanker that kicked 15 goals for the season in a team that won 5 games.

We get you like him, his best is great. But at some stage you may have to stop being his apologist.

Wood: 20 behinds
Garner: 5 behinds

Garner has played 7 games for 7 shots on goal
Wood has played 17 games for 40 shots on goal

It's really not comparable to be honest, Garner has been decidedly average in the games he has played this year

And Mase has been so impressive he's in the twos at the back end of a season that's going to see a clear out.

And TG was brought straight back in after being suspended over some bullshit nothing incident.

The Mason Jars on this thread are GARNER need to follow another team (quite possibly in the VFL or SANFL) to see their boy next year.

Good riddance too.

If you're trying to Garner my attention, you'll need to Taylor a better pun

If we can do better that Tay and Mase, we should go for it. If not they stay.
Wood is a strange omission from the team though, interested to see how we line up
 
yes it doesn't look great when fat guts Garner holds his spot when we know currently he's lacking conditioning.

we do though rate Hosie and we've got a few third talls last time I checked. maybe he will be on the market.

Turner is pretty much always on the park though.
Wishful thinking, but I have more hope after this season, that Wood just needs an extended run without injury.
I reckons he’s one more pre-season away from peaking. Do we give him one more year? I really hope so.
 
I think Wood still has a place in the team. Worst-case scenario I still see him as a 30 goal a year forward (full-season). If it comes down to a choice of 1 out of Wood, Turner, and Garner it's Wood easily.

Has got undoubted star power. Can take a mark, can kick a bag, and one of the team's best runners. You don't cast aside players like Wood. He's the type that you do all you can to find a spot (like Majak). I'd love to see him trialled as a winger or defender. The "too soft" jabs mean little when we haven't seen him there and Black (injury aside) has been very good down back for Geelong's VFL team - both are very similar players (Mason a better runner and contested mark).
 
I doubt they'd trade Mase without getting something worthwhile back. Why would you? Cos he can leave next year anyway and then we'd get nothing? It'd be a poor start for the new GM and coach.
