Player Watch #32: Toby Pink - has been delisted, with the commitment to re-select him in the Rookie Draft

The Nostradamus is on a crazy streak lately.

A few of you should kneel before the great man.

Hope Smillie lands at Arden Street to cap it off.
Now just need a club to please take the stink before us so we don’t waste a rookie spot on ol pinky

I’d just pay out his trigger tho altogether regardless

Get a new rookie or keep the spot open for SSP train ons

I don't understand this as it doesn't give us any new spots, just means River will be picked up in the ND not the rookie

Gives us the flexibility to take 4 picks in the ND. Perhaps we think a player may be available later in the ND who won't be there in the rookie draft?

That makes sense, though it would be a pretty shit thing to do to Pink. Has a club ever committed to pick up a player and taken back their word? I'm assuming we pick up River as Cal said we would

Don't get too excited Nostra. Pink could be the new Kayne Turner. You think he's gone aaaaaaaaaand he's back.

Good on him for agreeing to being rookied though. Admire his team first ethos. Knows where he's at.
Wait.. Kayne Turner is returning? This totally makes sense as the last piece of the puzzle is a lock down defender .. can you imaging the Nostrils commotion?..

Backman Turner (Nostrils) Overdrive..

You aint seen nothing yet!!..

It’s to cover a River bid in the ND.

If we fill the list spots before hand and then someone bids we wouldn’t be able to match. This is just the safe way to go about it.

3 live picks and then take River with the last selection or match a bid with our last selection.

Really no difference at all for Pink. No one will pick him.

"Toby has worked hard to earn a second chance in the AFL, and we are committed to re-drafting him as a rookie.

"We thank Toby for selflessly agreeing to this move to assist the club with our list strategy."

What a team player!!
Heart and soul of the club!

Has there ever been a statue erected of a player selected from the rookie list before?..

Make it happen Euge.

Mmm that presupposes we’re going to trade 2 and/or future picks into at least three 2024 picks
Yes I would think opening up another senior spot would suggest we have a swap basically agreed already.

Wouldn’t open up another spot if we were still likely to go in with 2 & 62. Rawlings says in the article it will allow us to bring in more talent via the draft. So another pick is coming from somewhere.

Hope this means the club is honouring the contract he earned via the trigger last year, and isn't giving him a pay cut as part of this move.

Toby did everything that was asked of him by the club, without much consistency as he was swung forward and back and forward again, as well as being thrown into the ruck. People forget that he played his first AFL games ever last year. Tough situation and he handled it superbly IMHO.

Yes, I'm an unashamed fan of his, and want him to succeed. Glad he's sticking around.

I'd have preferred to see Harvey on the rookie list.

You did well leading the "Pink, Pink, Pink" chants last season Chad. Plenty of people joined in too!

Would have been 'cleaner' too, since Harvey was out of contract and didn't require us to delist anyone before re-rookie listing them.

Plus, y'know... Pink is better.

Can't just re-adjust a contract on the fly like that, unless a player agrees to it. I'd say he would've been on a base salary similar to a rookie list player which is why we could drop him down with no financial impact to him or to us.
