The difference between Colyer and Melksham is significant. Colyer has 1 good game in 8/9 games and stinks it up the rest of the time, where as Melksham plays 1 good game in 5, and the others are usually solid contributions.

Melksham's 2011 game against Geelong>everything Colyer has produced. Combined.

Colyer's 27 touch 2 goal game against West Coast was pretty impressive

Not sure where this argument is going. Colyer can hardly get a game under Hird. Melksham can't get dropped under Hird.

There have obviously been significant reservations about Colyer just as much as there have been reasons for TRB to like Melksham.

Sorry not disputing nor agreeing with you here as I dont get the opportunity to watch the train, etc.. but just curious what indication and evidence you have towards making this call?
I don't really ever recall him using his pace to get into good positions etc when playing as a small forward, whereas I see Melksham always trying to work and get into link up plays during transition while playing HF/wing. I just feel that Melksham's work rate is seriously underrated*

*In his first 2 seasons, last year I noticed it dropped with his confidence

Ah alright fair enough.. thought you may have witnessed Travy not putting in solid efforts during training sesh or whatever. Couldnt help but be a little concerned when reading one of players (whom I have a bit of a soft spot for) is described as lazy or have poor work rate.

Really hope this preseason's focus of running has helped ol Colyer in better adjusting to his increased bulk and run out games better then!

Colyer hasn't got enough skill using the ball to consider him a potential midfielder.. he butchers it more often than not.. and even his 'good' kicks are generally not to the advantage.

It is a real shame.. because he can run with the ball and has good turn of speed, but modern AFL kills you on the turnover.. and Trav is a turnover king.. absolute liability.

Early Call : Won't play more than 10 games in 2013, will be delisted/traded/move on at the end of the season.

Hard to argue with that.

Poor disposal seems to plague a a number of our players, is that something unique to us or do most clubs have quite a few players who kick badly?

Something I have mentioned for 2 - 3 years now. You don't have to be an exceptional kick, but a good decision maker. A combination of both would be ideal to get you to 100 AFL games (see Rick Dyson).

One thing the recruiting staff have done in the past 3 - 4 years is exactly this, decision making and kicking ability higher on the attributes list than being athletic freaks.

Thought he was good to start with, and should stay in the side. Disposal dropped off towards the end but he attacks the game and adds much needed pace and line breaking ability to our side. Tends to break the game open when he gets it.

Could be a very good player for us if given the opportunity.

i think the two terrible kicks near the end are something we can take out of it

I forgave him the one in attack given it was on his wrong side but that one in defence had me shitting myself.

Liked his explosiveness from the packs, was able to give us the drive that Zaha and others weren't able to. Very handy sub, but that might be his ceiling if his kicking doesn't improve.

Doesn't have a place in the side if he still butchers disposal like he did on Friday. Sorry, but he wasted it.

Does almost everything else right for what we need, but if he can't kick he can't kick and shouldn't be playing.

Zaharakis couldn't handball, in fact he could barely pull off a celebratory hug post match. Both were hardly alone with poor disposals.

Yes, but Colyer has done it in every single game he has ever played.

Not the West Coast game in 2010

I still think he's shown enough not to write him off yet. Still seems nervous for mine, is only 21 and has played 28 games broken up without continuity.
