he was ready for AFL when we drafted him only injuries have set him back

I said it when we drafted.all 4 and before they even pulled on a training top that they would all play AFL this year actually i said they were talented enough to be best 22, I still think that and Graham should get games if fit and only Garth may come up short this year.

Very bullish on Garthfield too.

God help the kid, the excitement here is reaching ridiculous proportions.

Personally i dont think he will be anything more than your average 8x all australian, 8x bnf, 2 time brownlow medalist, 4 time premiership player, and 2 time norm smith medalist.

Nothing silly.

Havent seen the kid play one game but if he's playing well enough getting him in for a game this year could be terrific for him. Giving young players a game (which they deserve) does 3 things:
1) Proves to them that they will be rewarded for good reserves games.
2) Gives them a taste of the big time and motivates them over pre-season to raise their level again to match what they experienced the fast, physical senior game.
3) Takes some mental pressure off them knowing that they can enjoy the off season knowing what whatever happens...they've played a game of AFL footy.

With the twos having a bye this week, another week to freshen up the ankle niggle can only be good for him.
However, I really don't see the use of playing him against St Kilda for the sake of it. Let him dominate the VFL finals series and win that flag.

Yes, but you talk up ALL our draftees, every year!

Jack picked in the squad of 25 for Sunday. (Source Dimma on SEN)
Will be well deserved if he gets a debut on Sunday.

Really excited about this kid. "Skinny" and "debut" seem to go hand in hand with our team in recent times. Not this time. Hope he gets a gig Sunday.

Dimma also mentioned that there might be a couple to debut before the season's done which would mean Garthwaite may get a run at some stage.

The only 2 players on our list that haven't debuted. Although Garth looks cooked the moment, so would be surprised if he gets a debut this year.

Dimma said he's in the squad - so definitely in the selection frame for this week

Don't know how cooked he is. He ran 16km on the weekend (GPS), so he is up and running. Maybe out of form though, running to the wrong spots.

Actually a good point which I forgot to consider is that this year our VFL team should actually get a decent run in the finals, which can be just as important for development and confidence of the kids as getting in the seniors. Will also help them want to stay around and get a crack in the ones. A luxury we haven't had for a long time!

Hope he gets a game when we are well settled into the top 4. If he deserves it then let him go as far as possible. But, in general let him do a good VFL job, have an AFL experience, and be ready to rock in 2018.

Debuting this week would give us the 'luxury' of resting Prestia for another week - play him the same way, loose outside receiver / occasional run-with type player.
