At least 3 times in the 3rd quarter he failed to bodyline the ball, just sticking an arm out. It was pathetic and momentum sapping. I can't understand how he's gone so far backwards.
To me he is the biggest enigma at the club. Not too long ago he looked likely to be our next star forward. Very exciting. I know he had injuries but the difference between the exciting Black and now is almost unbelievable.

Needs to play a similar game to Jack Darling, is it possible ?, not from what i saw tonight, has gone backwards at an astonshing rate, and i know he has had injury concerns, just doesn't look like he wants to be involved, sad really.
Black just another victim of a VFL alighment his not the 1st player this has happen to and won't be the last and expect this continue for the next 5 years soon as Werribee put the gun North's head and and tell them to sign the deal

For me it's very simple , he's a massive confidence player . He's not a great one v one player & when your confidence is low you will struggle . Back in 2013 when he had confidence he was being used perfectly & the game style suited we were a fast ball moving team . 2014/15 since Tudor has come in we have changed significantly our game style we don't move the ball quickly and it's very rarely through the middle of the ground unless it's a turnover and guys like Harvey or Atley use their speed to break a line . Which I believe is to our detriment because when we do bring it through the middle of the ground we score big . Black is lead up forward who does have pretty decent speed & mobility & I feel for the guy because he gets separation from his opponent a lot but either he doesn't used or the ball is butchered on delivery and misses him completely or forces him into a one v one marking contest which is not his strong suit . Our game plan does not lend itself to Blacky's strengths . So either Blacky needs to spend all pre season with a contested marking / ball coach and hit the gym to build up his size in the upper body or we change our game style . Which is extremely unlikely , but I really hope we do because after next year this game style won't work for us . This slow build up , switching play , counter attacking style is ok at the moment because we have Drew , Waite & Brown who are all pretty good contested marking players . But if we want Black to get back to where he was or Wood to reach his potential we need to play with a bit more speed and flair with ball movement .

Have a like. Exactly my thoughts.

Not saying Black isn't a big factor for his own form, but the gamestyle definitely does not suit him as a player. Wood struggling a bit as well, you could say they both only really get influential touches when they move up the field and can inject themselves into the play rather than waiting for a kick into 50.

Sad to see him totally devoid of confidence

This is it. Confidence, form and touch.

No idea what his or North's plans are. One things I'm pretty sure of though is that he didn't just stop being a talented player.

Not every player's career follows a nice even trajectory. Players like Petrie, Hale, hell even Longmire have had seasons or games where due to form, lack of preseason or injury have looked a million miles from ever coming back and becoming good AFL players. That's where Aaron Black is at.

It's a little simplistic to say just throwing a bloke in the seniors for one game will jolt him into being confident and in good touch.

Every. ****ing. Post.

Get over it!

A half eaten twistie would be a good result for Black. I can't believe all of the posters sticking up for this turd! Paid extremely well to play VFL football and puts in pathetic efforts like last night. The effort where he didn't want to put his body on the line when the ball was there to be won against Chaplin shows how pathetic a footballer he has become.

If he wanted to go home, he should have never signed that contract, but to sign that contract and then not put in the effort to play at the level says enough for me.

Last night he played like someone that was actually trying his best to devalue himself for his next club. Doesn't even have the stones to play for the club who is paying him very well.

This is the type of player I actually hope we hold onto and tell him to rot in the VFL. He has showed a total lack of respect for his employer, by putting in half arsed efforts like last night.

Really seemed to want to avoid body contact on a couple of occasions when he could and should have gone in full throttle. Maybe it's a lack of confidence in his shoulder, maybe it's mental confidence, don't know but given our ageing forward line he has massive opportunities down the track if he can get it together.

He's had all friggen year to hit the gym

I dont care you think you wont play in a final. But your first off the rank if something happens.
For him to run out in Horses jumper and serve that crap up as a NM player is a disgrace.
Hang your head in shame you selfish campaigner and if you dont want to work hard to earn your spot back you can **** off back home to your mother.

Absolutely no excuse for it either..
Ok you're down on confidence - so you drop marks you would normally take, shank kicks, are half a step slow reading the play etc. What confidence does not effect is your ability to look like you give a shit, to put your body on the line for your teammates (bet Kayne LOVES him), and to show the club and the world that the faith and hundreds of thousands of dollars that have been invested in you were not a waste.

I'm so disappointed in Black right now, and have almost no belief that he'll turn it around at NMFC.

That's exactly as how I saw it, and it makes me wonder if he has been told to devalue himself, so we get screwed over in trade/draft pick because he has a better contract awaiting at the next club.

IF that's the case, I hope we say no deal and let him rot in the VFL. We will still be paying a large chunk of his salary and get nothing for him trade wise. So if he has gone out of his way to devalue himself, why don't we devalue him and let him rot in the VFL for two years?
