+ potentially Sanders, Reid

Our list balance is fkd at it means blokes like Charlie will probs unfairly not get a good crack.
yeah our midfield is more crowded now than when guys like Basti couldn't get a look in in his natural position. That said I think our midfield mix is more balanced now with players who can play multiple roles (as opposed to Swallow, Cunnington, Ziebell, Harris, Basti etc) Players need to be able to play multiple positions unless they have standout attributes in one role. Reid can definitely play multiple roles (if he lands at arden st). Powell has shown he can hit the scoreboard. TT can play mulitple roles. Sheezel obviously can. Wardlaw I'd like to see rested in a forward pocket applying his trademark pressure, also has a leap and can kick a goal. Reckon guys like Zurhaar, Ford, and Curtis could get some minutes on the ball etc. I really like Lazarro and Phillips and think they both will have long AFL careers, but I do wonder how many guys you can have in a team that are fairly one dimensional.

If Laz wants to break into the team, he will find it tough with the midfield depth the team has.

But as a point of difference, could he be our Ryan Clarke? Defensive stopper - tagger?

Someone smart will make themselves a long career turning themselves in a great small defender.

He is a young bloke who has been dropped a number of times and instead of dropping his head, he goes back to the 2's, works hard and gets back in the team.
He is too good for the VFL.
Surely we have to try and turn him into a senior player?
Last thing I want to see is we delist him at the end of 24, he gets rookied by a club with a good system and he ends up playing 200 games.

This guy is polarising.. plays VFL like a genius but plays AFL like a traffic cone.

Yes against GC he played well but it was a dead rubber and outlier for him at the level.

He looks like he’s committed, a professional trainer and has speed to burn so could he be turned into our specialist lock down small defender?..

Watching Bobby Hill tear up the GF at one end with his speed and agility we always have problems with Charlie, Papley, Weightman and the Stengle’s of the world.

Really haven’t had a specialist lock down defender since Marley and Laz would be twice as quick.

Could be an option?..

Wouldn’t be against it, has the straight line speed and agility to match it with most in the comp.

Great idea. That said I don't completely write off his GC performance, a lot of players find their confidence prevailing against a weaker opponent.

It's just we rarely if ever find one..

Hasn’t been used in his preferred position as starting mid
The only place for Lazzaro as a starting mid is our VFL .
You really think he has the ability to keep out Jy , LDU , Sheezel , Powell , Will Phil , Wardlaw & any of our upcoming midfield draftees ?

And a team that has blatantly obviously checked out

Yeah agreed
If I was him I’d try to get to a team lacking mids

Taking my lads to cricket today in the Geelong region I spotted a curly headed fella out on the track running and moving nicely.

He looks fit and was doing a fair bit of running. I didn’t recognise him at first but I knew he was an afl footballer by his build and the way he was moving. It was only when I passed him did I realise it was our Charlie Lazzaro.

He looks to be making a decent crack at it, fingers crossed he can get his chances next year to show what he can produce.

workrate has never been the issue, its talent and being able to lock down a positon.
Is he a forward, a mid or a winger? Who knows.. And that's his biggest problem.

He is a mid, he was drafted as mid, played his best footy prior to draft as a mid, plays his best footy in our twos as a mid and played his best footy of all time, in our ones as a mid.
