But he is not a small forward. His 3 goals were, one on a lead out of FF. One outbodied his opponent on the goal line and marked the ball and another contested mark on the boundary and playing on into the goals. Another goal assist was another mark and handball over the top. All different and all typical goals/assists that general to taller forwards take/create. He is a genuine marking option, but can also get up the ground as you mention as per his goal assist to Thompson late in the last.

The Doggies Weightman is a small forward, but he flies for marks, Elliot and a few others. Needs to play unstructured to a point, which was why he didn't get much of a run with Hardwick.

Looks like I'm repeating what others have said having read on. Let's hope that Yze reads this, Hardwick ignored us a look where that got him....
Got Dimma 2 mill a year and a cushy job

If they've done a preseason and come up with the best 22 they have to suit a new gameplan, I reckon there will be no unforced line up changes for the Suns. Ross for Graham.

Maybe, but surely form in an actual game of footy is more significant than training form. Campbell and Greene, the two new names, have done way less than Cumberland overall even at VFL level. It's not like it's raining goals up above. He will get his chance soon enough, they are not going to let him rot in the VFL for long, so not the end of the world if they have a look at a few new faces.

that’s right.. he ain’t a small forward and he ain’t a key forward..
He’s a hybrid, and a damn powerful and talented one.

That’s why I’ve been pumping up his tires for years cos he’s such a weapon that is an oppositions match up nightmare
Could the tide be turning re coaching and team tactics...
Rather than strict disciplined team play...
We have the one or two talented chaos players...
Eg...like Dusty...Bolton...Georgy...that break the structured team shackles...and change game play/dynamics with their chaositing!
The unpredictable...
Why not more?!?
More than three chaos players up forward...play 5 running around Cut Lunch's feet!
Time to break the mould!

Grimes holds his spot for a while: Tresize later maybe.
Vlas for someone. Probably Brown

Banks had calf tightness so he might come in, Play wing. Ross has been playing wing too.

Graham has been playing fwd I presume. Green was on the bench too. Seems to be ahead of Noah.

I get the vibe that bad practice match form will be excused.

Noah can be a match winner, but not in the way some want him to play, which is taking the game on and making things happen. When he does that and it doesn't go well he gets too caught up in it not happening, that he stops being fully invested in the game and allows the opposition to get away. The best way for Noah to become a match winner is the way he played the second half on Tuesday night, where he kept it simple and as a result had a major impact. He wasn't trying to break through packs and beat 2-3 opponents at once. He was presenting and taking marks, then moving the ball on quickly to teammates in better position or kicking the goal himself. That is why he had 3 goals and a handful of score involvements. Not only that but it then made his opponent have to play more accountable against him, which then takes away an outlet for them as they rebound.

Hopefully the coaches can show Noah that game and highlight the difference between the 2 halves and reinforce to him that keeping it simple is the key to unlocking Noahs full potential.

Fine coaching line between unlocking and stifling...
Need Cumber's unpredictability up forward unfettered...like a fine cheese!

The thing is if Noah doesn't know what Noah is going to do, how can teammates best position themselves to either get him the ball or get the ball from him. That is why his game on Tuesday was a tale of 2 halves. First half many were writing him off for trying to do too much and constantly turning the ball over by getting caught. In the second half, he had a much bigger impact and it was all based around him executing the simple things well, which then flowed into him hitting the scoreboard and also setting up teammates.

This is what you will get from Cumberland, and other young enigmatic players like him, the good with the bad. His first half was a bit headless trying too hard, which is not really a fault, but it clicked in the second and was a head above anyone on the ground. 6 direct goals in a half of footy. Looked like a real footballer.

You have to take a chance and be a bit patient with him, he is a year more advanced mentally and pyhsically, so his poorer traits will eventually give way to his stronger ones. All good footballers trend that way with time, if you have the talent it will eventually come out, and he has plenty of that.

The thing is you want more of the good than the bad and I'd suggest that until Yze and co see that Noah is likely to find himself playing more VFL than AFL.

And Noah has the best headless chooking going and down pat!
In my coaching book...players like these are rare and ought to be carried in good sides...lightening in a bottle!
Their unpredictability causes headaches for the oppo...for his team mates its all just normal sheet!

Where his team mates will be out of sight and mind and have no idea of playing with him!

Noah can have a massive impact on our season, if he does the simple things consistently. If he does that he'll get his opportunity at the senior level and once there and he is playing the same way week after week, his talent will see him cash in, which is what happened in his first year. Played basic footy without trying to be a match winner and found himself cashing in and having a lot of us expecting him to become a quality player. Then for some reason he started trying to do too much and the harder he tried the worse things went. So hopefully he goes back to basics and gets some consistency in his game.

The only impact Noah will have on our Season if he is played away in the VFL...will be by his absence!

So are you suggesting Yze simply picks him regardless of form?

Roll around 2024, Yze is playing Graham, Martin forward and he declared Bolton a forward too. Chuck in Mansell, MRJ start as small forward choices and a couple of injuries see Green & Campbell probably playing the Suns.
Fantastic.

With Clarke & Coulthard on the list .

Noah's game is just too different to fit in at punt road, probably anywhere.

Noah's current form that enabled him to kick goals in his last VFL match...that form?!?
Half a game from the whole preseason isn't the type of consistency I think Yze would be looking for when it comes to rewarding players.

Agree and disagree with this.

Agree that Noah plays a different style of game, but I think with good coaching he can still be a valuable player for us. Again the issue is him keeping it simple

Well that's the big conundrum here then...
Knowing what Ooze is looking for in Tiger players!...and also knowing what Ooze's rewards entail!

IMO, consistency of performance is the cornerstone of Yzes selection mantra.
