Did he play on the weekend?

He did. Whereas against Collingwood, I think you could say he was objectively solid to good (maybe 6 out of 10) he was quieter this week probably only a 5. He should have kicked at least 1.1 but ended up with only 0.1. I lost track of what happened to the first shot (whether it was out on the full, or passed off).

Having said that I am no less enthusiastic about the things I saw (bearing in mind he is a long term project I am not expecting to see play AFL until year 3 unless at the earliest and unless an injury crisis hits).

This week against Williamstown, the thing I really liked was his ground level follow up, be it from a marking or ruck contests. He is both aggressive and willing to put in the hard work chasing. It's not just throwing his weight around in the phone box of the post ruckwork contest.

He also adapted his ruck work against Downie, who is a 203cm, 31 year old formerly GWS listed player and is no slouch, after Downie was jumping into him to negate his leap. He had no problem wrestling around the ground and then following up after that contest.

He seems to have agility and speed that you would not expect from a player who is 203cm to 206cm, already weighing 100kg and a rookie pick. That package usually produces a lumberer. I'd be very interested to put him through combine testing right now to get confirmation of his capacity. I've previously said I would not attribute Draper level athleticism to him. I don't but I'm not ruling that out as I think he'll improve dramatically in the next few years.

Deserved. Very easy decision to make for me.

I sometimes wonder why fringe deals like this that are pretty obvious get left until last when really they should be the ones that are out of the way early so they’re out of sight and out of mind.

He’s shown a bit, and hopefully he’s in Dante’s ear as well. The lesser known sequel to Dante’s inferno.

I’ll pre empt the club’s position on this:

‘We graciously accept this obscenely stupid charge, please sir, can I have some more? do you want one of my kidneys too?’

I don't think a VFL decision has been overturned at tribunal since before COVID
I saw it. Not sure it was worth 4 but he did basically run into him late and there was high contact and it was a decent hit.

penalising the outcome, not the action

Also, you’re penalising him because the other kid didn’t attack the footy properly. He didn’t turn his body, he just ran straight at him front on and lowered his head. He goes about it properly and turns his body and there is no issue, he just gets crunched by a bigger player with more mass. Also it looks from that angle as if the ball is wedged between them, so you can’t say he ran past the footy or wasn’t genuinely contesting it.

Completely unacceptable penalty.

Pause the video and step through, the GCS player clearly gets to the ball first. Careless & High, tick tick. Severe, well that's up to interpretation I guess but the kid was knocked out.

And that's what it's about isn't it? First to the ball, lead with your head and reward yourself with a concussion.

Onus is on the player making contact not to do so illegally. Visentini didn't manage it. Don't mind him going in hard by any means, but the onus is on the player tackling / bumping doing so in an appropriate manner.

This isn't a complicated one.

As I said earlier, looks more like Vigo tries to get put of the way. I wouldn't describe his actions as a tackle/bump.
