Then I would suggest making more Australia A game, but that doesn't happen. So there is no other option that to give players an international cap and see if they can hack it. The answer would be more games, rather than less games then.
The two FC matches recently were both initiated by the BCCI, not CA. And outside of the two Aus A tours of NZ in the past two years, I don't remember all that much Australia A cricket.

These are the players that the selectors have deemed to have earned their spots in the Australia and therefore the ones that Australia are going with.

There once was many more Australia A games. They didn't get much coverage though.

Agree that's what the selectors have chosen and hence if that's the case then they get no excuses for their performances.

Mate I accept its all changed these days and no I don't expect them to score 10 shield hundreds to get a gig but I am just pointing out they are getting in the Aussie side not based on much, maybe a good few t20 matches and maybe a reasonable match in a One day cup match. Expose them in Australia A matches not in the Australian team.
Hardie, Morris and Connolly have not earnt their spot in my opinion and I am a WA boy.
As for supporting them well I don't go to the cricket anymore and have not since it left the WACA, thats my own issue. Still watch on TV when serious games are being played like Tests.

Anyway you are right it has all changed and it is what it is. Life goes on and it just means much more golf now. lol
Hardie has a FC batting average of 40 and bowling average of 28, reckon introducing him through white ball cricket is perfectly fine, particularly given the preference for all-round talent. Cooper is getting the Ponting/Clarke treatment because the potential is bloody obvious.

This I agree with, Hardie's best performances have come in long-form cricket, both he and Connolly should have played both A games, not a meaningless one-dayer, while Smith or Labs and co could have turned out for one extra game.

The excuse is that these players have been thrust into a position where they have no experience against international cricketers due to a lack of ODI games played and preferencing the "Best XI"

In ODI cricket, Shaheen Shah Afridi debuted at the age of 18. And Naseem Shah debuted at the age of 19. They are both only 24 and 21, respectively. Naseem played his first Test at the age of 16. They are now the front line of the Pakistani attack for the next 10-15 years (given their bodies hold up).

In comparison, I'll suggest Spencer Johnson, Lance Morris, Todd Murphy as the next generation of the bowling set up. Only Todd Murphy has little Test experience in conditions that favor him. And Johnson as only played 2 ODI's and 5 T20I's, whilst Morris has only played 3 ODI's; Johnson is likely to be 30 by the time he makes his Test debut; and Morris probably 28.

Then is a few years, you will have to find new bowlers because they will be at the age of retirement.

Not sure what the answer to that is? Throughout history many very good cricketers have missed out on long careers simply because they came along at the wrong time.

Are you suggesting that CA tell Starc, Hazelwood and Cummings they will not be selected for ODI or t20 so that the next generation can get a chance now?

The pakistan example is different as they were not replacing 3 very great bowlers like we have.

Morris, Johnson etc have only played a small sample of games because better players keep getting picked ahead of them. It has to be this way. How can you not agree with that?

The answer is not being forced to select your best XI for every game.

I wouldn't mind CA telling the older guys the **** off. When the ODIWC comes around in 2027, Starc (37 at the time), Hazlewood (37), Stionis (38), Maxwell (39), Smith (38) will all be too old to play in that tournament. England kicked out James Anderson from the Test team due to age; and Rohit, Kohli and Jadeja all retired from T20 to give the other players a spot on the XI.

The point with the Pakistan thing is that they are young, and now you have world class bowlers at the 24 and 21. Whereas you've got 28yos with no experience. And Nathan Ellis (currently 30) deciding to focus on playing playing T20 leagues cause he realizes he won't get into the main Australian XI whilst.

Because you will be left in a situation where there will be a bowling attack aged 30 will little to no experience

Well personally I don't give a toss about the ODI other than the world cup and 20/20 I care less about. Watch it for entertainment only.

Test cricket is what stands you out as a player and unless you make it there then you are not good enough.

How is a guy with a batting average of 19 in List A cricket batting at 3 in an ODI?
Because compared to the last 30 years there’s **** all batting talent there. As an eagles fan I can spot a cliff that a team is about to fall off, and we’re a bad home ashes result and several retirements at once from going over one

Minor word smithing but it’s not talent related - the talent is the same as it has always been. The coaching and development system has definitely fallen off the cliff and did so years ago - we are about to reap what we’ve sown and get what we deserve

Who are our greatest 50 over batsmen? Off the top and in no particular order:

M Waugh
Gilchrist
Bevan
Smith
G Chappell
Ponting
Hayden
Jones
Warner
Martyn
Boon

What do these players have in common? All were excellent first class batsmen, and even good test cricketers.

We are absolutely kidding ourselves with JFM and Short.

The emergence of Dave Warner quite obviously made them think twice about things.

All of them bar Warner and Smith emerged before t20 was a thing, and Warner had barely played first class cricket when he was trotted out in all formats for his country

No matter what anyone thinks about Warner, to his credit he wanted to play all forms of cricket and worked hard on his technique. He’s still a tosser though.
