Been a little worried for a while that the bottom may fall out as soon as this lot retire. The reserves showing when given the chances haven't provided a lot of hope.

I think it's also telling that aside from Green there's not 1 player below 30 in the test team. Now McSweeney but that's a forced change and even he only has a shield average in the 30s.

Morris doesn't look fully extended but still hitting 143 and getting good bounce off a length, and bowling well.

Yeah that'll make all the difference. I mean, Smith has been short of runs for years but actually has looked in good touch, but let's not let him try and score a meaningful ton and just take a couple pretty 30s. Much better, wouldn't want to overdo it a month out...

For mine it's because of T20.
The kids now don't have footwork. Fraser McGurk. Prime example.
All the great bats have one thing in common. Great footwork.

There just doesn't seem to be anyone exceptional coming through the ranks.

Pucovski was a big hope but is retired, players like Konstas have more work to do, and there seems to be a dearth of young, genuinely fast bowlers.
