I just saw some highlights as I didnt know about that innings until you mentioned it.Kim Hughes would be stiff. 100no from 198 against Roberts, Holding Garner and Croft and a really dodgy MCG wicket doing everything for the bowler. Australia was 4 /20, he got them to 198 and they won the Test in a low scorer.
I had it no.1. Rapt to be there and see it live.

Yep in a win its got to be up there. I dont really know too much about the context of the teams back then.
My first ever test match i watched was in 1992/93 when Australia played West Indies in Adelaide, and the Windies pinched a win by a run. And West Indies bowling quartet was formidable back then. Ive only heard of things about the 80s Windies bowling attack.
It was about context of the innings. We were gone in that game and Wade got us home, which then allowed us to win our first T20 WC final.Imagine putting a t20 innings of 41 in there lol

But that’s like, your opinion. The book is Hodge’s, no one is forcing you to buy it or agree with it all.It is still not in the top 20 innings, be barely top 50 and that's generous. It's not ahead of a NUMBER of test innings. There's way too many limited overs knocks in that list. How isn't Gilchrist's first ton in there? How isn't Gilchrist's 100 in India there? A few of Ponting's great test innings too.

Aesthetically I can't see how Mark Waugh's debut hundred misses out. I can still see that innings when I close my eyes.
No room for Carl Rackemann's 9 Hodgy? Cricketing folklore.
not much meat on the bones for an interview.Surprised Quiney's 9 wasn't in there
Agar's 98 is still a bit underrated. One of the great counter-attacking knocks
