Maxwell continues to frustrate me. Yes, I know his natural game is a hitter but I can't remember the last time he has had a good innings when the top order hasn't already made 150-200. I think Stoinis should have been batting ahead of him today.

So talented but my heart rate doubles every time he bats, when he gets in,he is superb, today was a brain fade, also the last game.

That's the thing, the bloke can certainly cricket - Terrific in the field, handy dart bowler for ODI's & T20's with variations. Amazing hitting power. Just needs less brain fades and to play himself in and not pull out the reverse sweep until he fully has his eye in.

Free rides is pretty unfair about Quiney and McGain. Both of those two had been performing at domestic level for years and years. Finch again deserved it based on his domestic output.
Holland was brought into the side after a couple of injuries to spinners at the right time.

Wade possibly could be called a free ride but that was mostly due to lack of competition and having a good batting history when selectors love a keeper who can bat.

Boland is possibly a free ride but is far from the only paceman to get a game in recent years after a few good games.
nope all got free rides especially boland, he literally bowled 2 good yorkers in a bbl game and was picked from that was not surprising at all to see him go for 10 an over and average 60 hes barely a park cricketer

My Vic boys let us down, bloody Maxwell and Handscomb.
:(
Talent to burn but brain spasms galore.

Well the thing with Handscomb given his domestic limited overs performances is that he probably doesn't belong in an international limited overs teams

Blokes like Lynn on the small fields of NZ would have created havoc and surprisingly,Maxwell did not take advantage of the situation.
Mitch Marsh would have very been handy also.
Owell ,done and dusted, need to be absolutely on our game in India.

Agree. Is an overseas tour with foreign conditions after all and I reckon the swinging seaming conditions of NZ with the small grounds mean your best bet in an ODI is to swing and swing hard as with the modern bats even mis hits go for 6. Just has to clear the rope not go out of the ground. Poking and prodding at the swinging ball from an Australian point of view leads to dismissals. Cummins and Starc at the end nearly got home doing the former.

Our best ODI side:

1. Warner
2. Head
3. Smith
4. Stoinis
5. Maxwell
6. Marsh
7. Wade
8. Starc
9. Cummins
10. Zampa
11. Hazlewood

Both games they lost their 6th wicket at 200. They still got another 80 runs in both games in the last 10 and didn't get knocked over.

We still should have chased these totals down
