My friend and I bought one for our friend who lives overseas but he can't use it because of a firewall at his work, so we do!

That's your fantasy Darky, not mine...

And as if you'd buy both. Like you need a toolkit when you've got a chainsaw!

Daniel Harris at home with the Kangaroos
29 June 2003 Sunday Herald Sun
By JACKIE EPSTEIN

AFTER overcoming a dose of homesickness, Daniel Harris has settled at the Kangaroos. From Rushworth, between Bendigo and Shepparton, Harris, 21, was recruited as selection 14 in the 2000 national draft.

At first he missed his country life, but now, in his third year, he is relishing his time in the big smoke.

Said Harris: "I came down and lived with Lance Williams, who the club put me up with. He's had a few of the boys, and Wayne Carey, I think, when he first came down.

"I missed a few things about home, but it's pretty easy to get used to it down here, and I really enjoy it now."

Playing seniors regularly this season has been a major factor in Harris's increased enjoyment.

He has played the past four games, for a total of seven, this season and was vital as an interchange forward in the narrow win over Essendon.

Having played most of his football in the midfield, he has added a new dimension to his game. Coach Dean Laidley told Harris he would often be used as a weapon near goal.

"It's been really good," said Harris. "We're sitting in the eight. A lot of people wrote us off, but I reckon we've had a great year.

"Dean basically said if you play well and get a bit of form, you'll get a game. So, it gave a few guys a spur.

"He's shown a lot of confidence in me. I started in the middle and I'm up forward now, so, if I go up and score a lot of goals I can be a weapon there in the square."

"I've never really been a goalkicker, so this is my first season playing there and I've been doing a bit more practice at training."

Harris grew up supporting Richmond because his dad, Ian, played under-19s with the club. His hero was Matthew Knights until he started working closely with Anthony Stevens after he arrived at Arden St.

"I played twice on Matthew Knights and he towelled me up each time," admitted Harris. "Now I've tried to model my game on Anthony Stevens, and, when I first came, he took me under his wing.

It has been a big year for the Kangaroos, but Harris said Laidley had ensured the players have been able to take it all in their stride.

He lives with teammates Leigh Harding and David Hale, and he says fulfilling a childhood dream has been better than he ever expected.

"We all gel well together and the older blokes have respect, but they also have a laugh with you, too," said Harris. "Growing up as a kid you look at all your heroes, and you have to take it in your stride that you play with them.

"But it's better than I ever thought."

With Robbins going off injured Harro had a lot of work to do today, and he really seized the opportunity.

It has taken a while but the 2000 draft picks are starting to have a big influence with Motlop, Petrie and Jones all playing well today.

when the stats become apparant, i reckon he got at least 5-6 clearances
great performance in our top 3

well now we know for sure he thrives on pressure (1) and he especially plays well when he has a lot of responsibility and work he has to do. When he gets a lot time on the ball he rips games apart. When he's used of the bench he doesn't quite have that same effect....

In the case of Harris in my opinion he had made it earlier this year. Played well in a number of games and then inexplicably stopped getting game time.

Should be in our starting 18 on a regular basis, not on the bench, is too good an in and under player who gets the ball and does something with it, to be treated the way he has been.

Great to see Harro have a good one. We all know what he`s capable of, but to seize the day so to speak hopefully gives him quality time in the middle from now on.

The problem is that Stevo is the one keeping him out. If they were to split the time next year, where else would you play Stevo?

yeah like the idea of stevo playing forward, been advocating that move all year.
nothing against stevo, but i think it will be better for all concerned if he left the midfield.

Pre-post warning. Quite drunk.

Daniel Harris in the middle for most of a game?

That is bloody groundbreaking. Pushing the boundaries of coaching conformity. He is a visionary, a thinker, a maverick even.

I did wonder though, just as Harro got his 49 000 clearance, where is his opponent? I just thought he might have been dragged because his man successfully picked his arse on the wing.

Comment from Laids on the website?

Maybe he should listen to his assistants more, for he didn't want to play him this week.

Get stuffed.
